The number 16 seeds go back to serve we are underway and at the end of this
somebody is going home. This time mixing it and going to Ronja and a big block
into a cut back to the line. Brazil they were in Baldy they lost the first one in
a tricky battle against Shaw and Cheng. It was a 21-12, 20-22 but those conditions can be very
different and today the side that Ronja is on is probably the trickier one. Go to
Doreena who comes in with a phenomenal arm swing to the line.
Negev back to serve. I do like the night games they haven't got the sunglasses on
You can really see just what's going through the mind, the windows to the soul.
Good touch from Hegel on the rebound but Ronja's in there. It's an easy turn and
burn. That's the stall on the movement in. What a finish. Incredible touch from
Vittoria. She's creative, can't put it down. Ronja with the up and over to the line
and that is good from Austria. Beautiful link play. Ronja staying in front
couldn't quite release for a back step to get more power on the swing so had to
keep the win for Hegel. 21-10, 17-21, 15-10. Brazil coming out of the technical now
looking to make inroads back to a dual kind of redirect going.
Line blocks called by Vittoria. Good switch up on the poke.
Vittoria again running the back set. This time she comes to the line but it's
Doreena who takes it. And after the big cross-court swings from Vittoria she
likes to go to the line. She does. Here's the movement. Expect Vittoria to do
something different and she does. Love that. Words with yourself in those
situations. And Brazil 15 serving 16. Ronja Klinger not overly happy with the fast
whistles of the referee but has to get on with it and just says okay all right
then I see you I'm ready. This is what I'm gonna do when I'm ready.
Hegel in control. Oh it's a good poke right in between the two Austrians with the tiny
tiniest bit. All square. 18s. Doreena kicks it out doesn't go on the back set just
wants it high and gets a phenomenal poke to the deep corner creeping up. It's a
little bit bent out of shape but that's a good move and what a touch. And the
celebration of Vittoria is too cute. This is my favorite scoreline. Any duel that
brings about a set point. Hegel, poised and focused gets it on Doreena.
Just to kick it away comes on the inside goes to the drop shot. There's a touch.
Vittoria's got to go but the left-hand knuckle is dug by Doreena. She's up high
she's in trouble but what a touch. Doreena gets it though. Opportunity now.
Third time of asking but it's a standing here and Hegel could get it. This is it.
Free net. No one up but Doreena gets a dig and Ronnie with the second ball
option silences the crowd. We're off. Start of set two. Round of 18.
Vittoria gets the dig. Brazil one-point opportunity is squandered as
No block up for Austria either. Vittoria on this back set. What's she gonna do?
Through the angle finally. Ronnie gets it but doesn't keep it on their side.
Doreen gets involved. The on two jump set and I like the movement from Doreena.
Serves the max. Trying to get those early aces. Good take from Doreena. An aggressive cross
court swing. That is a good shot. First set. And what a serve. That was missing from
Ronja but there is a big ace. Ronja Klinger.
Looking to pounce but it's the control from Vittoria which is too good.
The energy between Vittoria. Where does Vittoria go? She goes heavy on the angle
but this time she goes deeper.
Challenging serve. That's good take from Doreen. But Hegel. A beautiful line on the
attack arm of Doreena. And Doreena getting greedy on the swing. Putting too
much angle on it rather than the up and over. And the height of Doreena. She doesn't need to.
This time avoiding Hegel.
At some point throughout the course of the match. Putting pressure. Getting the blocks in.
Calm as you like. Hegel under pressure. But that's clever. So good. Bucket loads.
Doreen stays with Ronja. Gets a bit of cover but it's only as far as going over. And
Vittoria pounces. A beautiful link play from Austria. Where are you Austria? I see
you. I'm not giving it to you. And what she does there is a beautiful thing.
Doreena thinking she's much closer to the line than she was. Hegel. The first set point of
Asking. Can they get it done quickly? The net deviated it. Vittoria's got it. She
comes with a big swing. Austria keep it flying. Great calm control from Hegel.
And the up and over line sees Austria get it done. First time of our G&E match.
Where you absolutely expect everyone to be throwing everything at it. And Brazil down but
definitely not out. Took it first time of Asking. Second set Brazil. Fifth place in
Montreal. Not a bad result though. But two nights in the Baden Challenger and the
Europeans definitely not where they wanted to be on the national tour. I haven't seen them go
deeper. Will this be the one? Good peel. Good touch. Rony desperately trying to get it. Great shot by Hegel.
Almost a mesmerizer. Doreena on the back pedal. Ronya goes after it again. This time
through the middle but it's Hegel bouncing up. Big swing. Nice angles of weight.
A bit of a pickle. It's very narrow. Goes to the high up and over poke and that is well played.
All about one point at a time. Who can just understand what's gonna happen with this ball
best? Hegel has to stay. Austria keep it going. It's tricky. Wow. Nobody can find their way
through these pokies and it's Victoria in the back. She goes to the middle and gets it. And it
was incredible. Austria switching ends. Gotta recalibrate the serve. Rony Klinger serving for
the match. A place in the round of 82 more match points for Austria. Hegel has to work hard to get
into the net. She gets it on Rony. Rony kicks out. She comes in heavy but it's Victoria in a good
position with the craft and the pokey through the rift. Austrian defense and Victoria is on fire.
Hegel has to deliver. It's in play. Rony kicks out. She stays strong. It's tight and she puts
it away and that is a massive swing for Austria and they book their place in the round of 18.
Oh my goodness what an anxious finish if you're an Austrian fan but they have done it. They got
themselves. They scrapped themselves across the finish line.
