Lizzo Surprises Kids Music Program With Kelly Clarkson!

Music education is something I care deeply about. A non-profit in Detroit, Lizzo's hometown, is giving kids more access to it. It's called the Sphinx Organization. It provides classical music education, including orchestra and choir, to kids from elementary to high school. We have Ana, the director of education, dialed in from Detroit, along with several students, Elena, Gabrielle, Brittany, and Sadie. What's up y'all? Who this program is meant for? Hi, thank you for having us. These kids are representing our Overture program, which is meant for elementary school kids in Detroit and Flint. We provide everything they need, including the instruments, the supplies, the teachers. We come with our curriculum, and we provide this program free of charge for these schools that we collaborate with, like Cesar Chavez Academy, where we at. And we depend on collaboration. Moving on from the Overture program, they have the Sphinx Performance Academy that they can go to, in partnership with Juilliard and the Boston Conservatory. And we also depend on support and collaborators, like last year, the famous singer Lizzo saw the program and the work that we were doing and helped us with a very generous donation. Oh, that's incredible. I love, thank you so much for what you're doing, by the way. I was definitely one of those kids that was affected by organizations like this. So, kiddos, what all do y'all play? I see the violin back there. We play chimichimitos. We play the violin, and a new song that we're learning is chimichimitos. And we've learned songs like Allegro, Boy with the Cabbage, and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Yeah, I love it. Well, we have someone here who wants to say hi. Do you want to say hi to Lizzo? Hi, you guys. Twinkle, Little Star is my favorite song. Can you play some for me right now? Look at her freak out. She's like, never mind, I'll play for you. We can get that from y'all if y'all want a little bit later, but thank you so much for what you're doing. She freaked out. She said, back out, back out, abort, abort. No, but thank you guys so much. It really is amazing what you're doing, and artists like us are here because of these amazing organizations that exist. So, I'm liking your post right now. Congrats, kiddos. I got Sasha here. Our season-long partner, Clarkson Show, want to honor truly unstoppable people just like all of y'all, so they're going to be writing a check to the Sphinx organization for $1,000. Thank you guys so much.
