In this film, we will take you deep into the ancient Hyrkanian forests to discover one of
the rarest frogs in the world, the Hyrkanian forest frog. This extraordinary creature can
only be found here, and to bring it to you, we searched across many rivers. Stay with us,
and don't forget to support our journey by subscribing, liking, and leaving a comment.
The journey starts with the river green frogs, colorful and lively residents of streams and
ponds. These frogs spend most of their lives in the water, feeding on small and large insects
that thrive near the riversides. In spring and early summer, when the rivers are at their fullest,
they lay their eggs in still water pools. Beneath the surface, they seek shelter in riverbeds,
hiding under mud, algae, and the tangled roots and leaves of forest trees. This secret underwater
world provides them both food and protection, allowing them to survive in harmony with the
Unlike the bright river frog, this species carries a clay-colored body,
with a distinct black stripe running along its eyes, making it unmistakable. It is not only
found in rivers, but also hidden on the forest floor, and sometimes even resting on tree trunks.
In spring and summer, they reproduce in still water ponds, and as adults, they can grow up to
10 centimeters in length. Their diet consists mainly of insects and aquatic larvae within the
forest streams. Yet, despite their resilience, these frogs are now in grave danger. With little
protection and oversight in the Hyrkanian forest, their habitat is being destroyed.
Excessive groundwater extraction and poorly planned dams have drained the rivers,
leaving countless aquatic species without a home. This ancient forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
is losing its lifeblood, the rivers that have sustained it for millions of years.
If this continues, we may soon witness the extinction of not only the Hyrkanian forest frog,
but many other species that depend on this ecosystem. To give a voice to these innocent
and fragile creatures, we need your support. Please subscribe, like, and share your thoughts
in the comments. Together, we can raise awareness and protect the timeless life of the Hyrkanian forest.
