Have you ever wondered where rain comes from?
Let me tell you a little secret about the sky.
It works just like a magic water cycle.
The sun shines down and warms up the rivers, lakes and oceans.
When the water gets warm, tiny invisible drops called water vapour float up into the sky.
It's like the water is flying away as steam.
All the tiny drops gather high up in the sky and hold hands to make fluffy white clouds.
Think of clouds as big water balloons floating above us.
As more and more drops join the party, the clouds become big, dark and heavy.
They can't carry all that water forever.
Finally, the clouds burst open and the water falls down as rain.
Drop, drop, drop.
The raindrops fall on the ground, filling rivers, watering trees and making puddles for kids to jump in.
After rain, the sun comes out again, warms the water and the whole process starts all over.
That's why it's called the water cycle.
It never stops.
Next time you see a rainy day, imagine the clouds saying,
Oops, I'm too full. Here comes the rain.
