Let's try and relive that.
That qualifying was 45 minutes longer than the Italian Grand Prix.
Did it feel like that?
Yeah.
Honestly, it felt like hours.
I don't know how long, maybe two hours?
It was two hours.
Two hours, yeah.
It felt like it.
I needed to pee since like lap two of qualy.
So, that's never nice, but obviously it was great for us.
Now, have you heard the phrase, success has many fathers?
Simon Lazerman is claiming credit for this as your lucky charm.
I mean, he walked you to the car, walked you to the garage.
That's going to happen more often now.
Yeah, come every session.
I don't mind doing these interviews now, walking into the car.
We can do it more.
No, it's been obviously a very good qualy for us today.
It's just surviving, honestly, the first two sessions, maximizing every lap on track.
We learned from Monza, trying to be a bit risky and getting caught out.
And we, honestly, we fueled for the session and just did every single lap possible.
But that was a really smart, practical approach from the team, right?
Like, just give you guys time.
Clearly, the wind was gusting.
It was difficult.
We saw lots of people going off into runoff areas and into the barriers.
Talk to us a little bit about just for you mentally, you know, you're seeing that.
You're seeing people make mistakes.
How did you prepare to get into that final run in Q3 to just make sure you put a lap on the board?
The hardest thing, honestly, is when it starts raining and you see it, you know what it's like.
You see it on your visor, and you can kind of see the gloss starting on the track,
but you still have tire temps.
So you're fighting your brain to not brake early and lift because everything's telling you
that it's going to be less grip, but then it's not, you know?
And I didn't maximize the first lap in Q3, and Carlos did.
He had a great lap.
And it was raining a little bit again on the last lap, but I just honestly ignored all of it
and carried on, pretended it wasn't, and it worked.
The cars look good all weekend, hasn't it?
You had both cars into Q3, even before the madness of Q3.
You know, is there a realistic chance you guys can fight for the podium,
or are you expecting the McLarens to come through tomorrow?
Yeah, I mean, we'd love to.
The car's been very, very good recently, so I'm not going to say that, you know,
it's not going to be fast tomorrow, but we know that there's very, very quick guys coming from behind us.
And obviously, we'll try and do the best we can,
but I'm sure it's going to be a tough race.
But if it's anything like today with these conditions, then, you know, anything's possible.
And finally, I remember speaking to you after Austria.
It was the first clean weekend you had.
It's starting to come together now.
Are you feeling a bit of relief that qualifying, you got through all of that,
and it's ended with a good result?
I think on a qualifying side, yes, it's definitely been the more difficult side this year.
We've had great race pace.
We've had good race results.
But we've had potential to have great race results if we'd qualified better quite often,
and Hungary's one of those.
And Austria was good, and that showed that.
But I think, obviously, to have this today is more about that qualifying side.
For me, it's great, but I'm also well aware that points are tomorrow,
and that's the important day.
It's going to be a wild, wacky race, I think, tomorrow.
I'll let you get to the interview.
Thank you for your time.
Yeah, we have listened to the interview.
I want to say thank you to him for his performance.
I just want to say congratulations to him for all of his efforts.
As I was saying on the press conference, I'm not going to comment absolutely anything.
