Sensible Prepper Presents: The Lifestraw Emergency Water Filtration.
Water. It is the most critical element in survival. Three days without water and you
become totally dehydrated and you could possibly die. So having a way to filter water is really
mandatory if you're in any survival situation. Water is everywhere. There are creeks, streams.
Unless you're in a real arid area or a desert, you're going to be able to find water fairly
simply. But finding good clean water, that's the trick. Now my buddy Dave from I Am One Ugly Guy
channel introduced me to the LifeStraw originally. Within Scott, Engineer 775, who is the advisor on
Doomsday Preppers by Nat Geo, told me that this goes with him everywhere. And so with those
recommendations, I really wanted to check out the LifeStraw. It's really simple. In fact, there's a
place here to drink from and then you just remove the cap and this is where your filter is. There's
a lanyard attached that goes right around your neck to keep it really handy. Also leaving this
around your neck helps if you're putting it in the water. You don't want to lose it. Bring it down
to the water. Brings it right up. Takes a few minutes just to suck the water in to prime it.
But the water is good and clean. No aftertaste. Nothing. When you finish with the water, just blow
and get rid of that excess water. This will preserve the filter in the LifeStraw.
The filter in has a little cap. Snaps right on here at your mouthpiece. This keeps it from
getting contaminated. You can keep the LifeStraw in a pack, but you can just keep it around your
neck. Drop it, especially if you're not carrying a pack. This makes it really simple just to lay
around your neck if you're on the go. The good thing is it floats if you do drop it.
This string makes it easier to grab. Water is life and in a crisis situation, one of your number
one concerns besides just your personal safety is water. And that was the whole idea behind the
LifeStraw. And this was designed by Vestergaard Francine for areas that were hard hit by earthquakes
such as Haiti or tsunamis or different things that have happened in Pakistan and in Africa.
And the LifeStraw is a really super lightweight water filtration system that is so easy to carry
and so easy to use. In fact, the LifeStraw was so innovative that it was Time Magazine's best
invention of 2005. Now the filtration system itself is a hollow fiber membrane, and that means
that there's no chemicals, no batteries, no iodine, no moving parts. It's really simple. And that way
this can be given out to different people just to use, and it's so simple to use. It breaks down
contaminants to 0.2 microns, and that filters out 99.99% of any bacteria, even E. coli, cryptosporidium,
giardia. And it does meet EPA standards. It has a three-year shelf life, and it will filter up to
1,000 liters or 264 gallons. And that really equates to about one year of drinkable water
for one person. It's just under nine inches long by one inch in diameter. It weighs 1.75 ounces.
It is super lightweight. It's going to be easy to see with the blue color in case you drop it.
The way to prime the LifeStraw is to let it stand in a tall glass of water for about one minute,
and this just kind of saturates the membranes. And then just give it five quick draws with your mouth,
and then it's primed. Now if it gets clogged, just blow through the mouthpiece and to blow out any
kind of debris that might be clogging the filter. And for every 10 LifeStraws sold, one is donated
to developing countries through Rotary International. It comes in a soft package like this,
so it's very lightweight packaging. It's just a really well thought out system. The shelf life
typically on the LifeStraw is three years, but that means that you can use this over that period
of time periodically and still retain its same lifespan. And the way to know that you've reached
the limit that this will filter is when it just quits working. Now one of the best places to find
this is eartheasy.com slash LifeStraw. Of course, I'll have all the information below in the
description. The suggested retail on the LifeStraw is $24.95, which isn't a bad price, but on
eartheasy.com slash LifeStraw, you can get these for $19.95. And also, they have a lot of other
outlets listed on EarthEasy. This is a very simple and easy way to keep this in your bag, keep it in
your pack, or keep some of these handy and to give out to family members, because water is life,
and without it, you won't survive. And if you want to follow a lot of the humanitarian efforts
that they're doing, go to EarthEasy or you can go to their Facebook page and check it out. And I'll
have the link below. But it just talks about a lot of the things that LifeStraw, through
Vestergaard Francine, is doing worldwide to help those in need of good, clean drinking water.
The LifeStraw is a very small price to pay to have good, clean water. Your life could depend on it.
Be strong. Be of good courage. God bless America. Long live the Republic.
Now, the way to prime this is to stick it in a glass of water for about one minute
and then give it five quick sucks. And then give it five quick sucks. I can't say that.
I don't know I want to be sucking on this thing.
