Frodo lives peacefully in the Shire after Bilbo's departure. But strange rumors and dark events are spreading. Gandalf returns and reveals that Bilbo’s magic ring is the One Ring, created by the Dark Lord Sauron to control Middle-earth. Gandalf tells Frodo the history of the Ring — how it was lost, found by Gollum, and then taken by Bilbo. The Ring is dangerous and corrupts its bearer. Frodo is shocked and fearful, realizing the world is in danger. He begins to understand that he may have to leave the Shire to stop the evil that is rising again.
