Between Man and Monster Lies a Curse

What is it you seek from us, mortal king? Your wisdom, Great Zeus. This is the story of Ixion, a mortal king whose pride led him to defy the laws of gods and men. He was welcomed to Olympus, seated among the immortals, but instead of gratitude, he desired more. He longed for what was forbidden, the queen of the skies herself. To test him, Zeus shaped a phantom of cloud, a false goddess given form. Ixion, blinded by desire, embraced the illusion and sealed his fate forever. The feast continued, but the guest of honor was already a ghost. And in this union of vanity and vapor, not in harmony, but in discord, a presence unlike any before. Your queen has left you, little king. Mercy. Desired a goddess, you will be bound to the heavens for eternity. He flew past the sun and moon, his screams a warning to all mortals. The vessel of the crime, heavy with its burden, fell back to earth. The sky itself went into a tortured labor. And from that storm, a new flesh was born. The body of a beast, a voice for the war that would rage within it, of a lie left to a world of truth. This was the dawn of the centaurs. The beast's hunger always screamed louder than the man's thoughts. They are my kin, but they are not my kind. Knowledge is a gift we must nurture, just as we do the body. A weapon shaped not just from wood and stone, but from hunger for power. Worship their rage. They are there to guide us, if we only look up.
