Hello, today we are in Oaxaca with some of the participants of the Easy Spanish school.
And we are going to share a little about our experiences of learning Spanish.
Let's go?
Let's go!
Hello, how are you? What's your name?
I'm Vimalo.
Nice to meet you. Why did you choose to learn Spanish?
The truth is that I love the language.
And well, I love to travel too.
So, to speak with people, it's better if you know the language.
That's why.
I like the idea of using a language to learn about the world and other people.
And to improve myself too.
I love Spanish. For me, it's the most beautiful language in the world.
Yes, I like the sound, I love it a lot.
And also now I have a lot of Spanish-speaking friends.
So, it's also a great motivation to speak with them in their own language.
I chose it because, in fact, I live in Barcelona.
So, I need to speak Spanish every day with my friends, with all the people who are on the street, in my life.
When my son moved to Puerto Rico, I visited.
And then I wanted to speak with the people on the street and I didn't understand anything.
I chose to learn Spanish because when I was little, I had a friend who spoke Spanish.
And I always thought it was a magical language.
Well, I already had a lot of experience with languages.
Because when I moved to Austria, I had to learn German and improve my English.
I even learned a bit of Czech.
And I thought, well, if I can speak very different languages,
why not learn a language that is similar to mine, which is Romanian or a Latin language.
And that's why I thought, I don't know, Italian, French, Spanish.
And I thought, I like Spanish and it has a lot of native speakers in the world.
And then I decided to learn Spanish.
My son speaks Spanish through his trips and studies at the university.
And I want to speak with him.
Because I like the music of Spain and more the music of Puerto Rico, the reggaeton.
I like to watch series and movies on television and cinema.
And sometimes I speak in Spanish and it bothered me that I didn't understand anything.
And I wanted to understand what they were saying.
My dream in life is to move to another Spanish-speaking country like Spain, Colombia, Mexico.
And I also like to speak with my friends in Austin, Texas.
Because I live here in Austin, Texas.
And they are from Monterrey, Codajara, Nicaragua and also some from Colombia.
And I like to meet their real personalities in their native languages.
Is there something good in your life that happened because you know how to speak Spanish?
Of course. I have a lot of friends in Spain now because I speak Spanish with them.
And I have two roommates who are from Peru.
And that's why I speak Spanish with them too.
Well, starting with this trip, thanks to Easy Spanish, I've been to Mexico twice.
Two years ago we went to Paire Bravo and this time we are in Oaxaca.
And I really like the experience.
It's always interesting to travel to a new place.
Travel without fear. Travel to Spanish-speaking countries like now.
We are in Mexico, in Oaxaca.
And I can communicate with the people and they can understand me.
Well, where I live in my city there are a lot of Latinos.
So I love to have the opportunity to speak with them.
Or if I'm traveling, if I meet someone who is Spanish-speaking, it's very good if I can speak their language.
I've met friends from Spain, from Madrid.
And we do a lot of things in Germany.
They live in Germany and we go out at night.
It's a very strong friendship.
And can you tell us a little about what membership you have and what has helped you learn Spanish?
I have the membership of daily conversations.
And it's the one I like the most because the fact of speaking, of being able to talk to other people.
This helps me more than anything else, I think.
But also the videos.
In the sessions of daily conversations, I really like that I do everything.
I listen to the language, I speak it.
I also see it written because you help us with new words and we have them written.
And I also write the new words.
So it's a complete process.
Thank you very much.
Well, if you want to see everything that includes this membership that Tudor has,
we leave you a link down here with all our memberships.
What is the best advice you've heard to learn Spanish?
Well, because I've learned Spanish for so many years,
I think it's always important to be in contact with the language.
And people have told me that it's important to learn and keep learning every day.
So the most important thing is to do as much as possible to do and use the language.
I think the best thing is that the mistake is your friend, right?
It's not necessary to be afraid of mistakes.
Mistakes are going to help you.
The best thing is to read a lot in Spanish.
I need something visual.
That's why Easy Spanish helps me a lot because I see the subtitles
and I can also connect it with the real Spanish of the street.
Not to speak Spanish with others because I'm afraid of making mistakes.
Because I make mistakes.
A more general advice is to enjoy learning because if you don't have passion,
in my opinion, you can't learn something.
Don't let your fears stop you from speaking Spanish.
It doesn't matter if you dream like a child or you feel like an idiot.
It doesn't matter.
It's just that people who can learn and understand what you're saying is important.
You have to speak, so speak, speak, speak, speak.
You need to speak.
So for me, I have a lot of mistakes sometimes with my friends,
but nothing happens to them, so I can speak.
You can't learn without making mistakes.
So it's not worth worrying about that because with time and practice,
you make progress and the important thing is to communicate.
It's very important to always look for new opportunities and activities
because I think it's human nature to always want to learn things
and change.
What do you think is the most important thing when you learn a language?
That you like it.
That you do it for pleasure.
That's also my advice.
If you do something, you have to do it because you like it.
I think the most important thing is if you have the possibility of immersion.
If you can live in a Spanish-speaking country, for example,
in Nicaragua, in Peru, whatever.
And of course, in that way you will learn in the best way.
Any language. The most important thing is to speak.
Because a language for me is a tool to speak or communicate with other people.
Patience, of course, because it takes time to learn a language.
Dedication and also a good sense of humor.
Bridges. Yes, I wanted to build bridges.
Because it's one of my deepest motivations to make connections
with people from another culture.
And there's always the opportunity to change the way a person practices.
And that way, the person who wants to learn Spanish can keep learning
and won't say, oh, that's not something I want to do.
Because every day can be different.
It's a long journey and you have to enjoy the journey.
That's all for today.
