Standing on the outskirts of Valencia, Casa Jacaranda emerges as a contemporary residence
that combines the solidity of materials with the softness of space. Completed in 2024 with an area
of approximately 1,065 square meters, the house offers a blend of massive exterior architecture
and a bright, fluid atmosphere within. The central concept of this home is to create a
contrast between solidity and transparency. From the outside, the building appears as a
composition of robust stone blocks, as if naturally formed like a rocky topography.
Yet upon entering, open space is filled with natural light sweep through the interiors,
arranged from several interlocking boxes that shift both horizontally and vertically.
This composition produces a silhouette that is dynamic yet harmonious,
showcasing the interplay between heavy mass and lighter, floating elements.
Large cantilevers that project outward not only add architectural expression,
but also function as shading from the intense sun.
Materiality becomes the primary language of Casa Jacaranda.
Vertical elements are dominated by large stone walls that convey an eternal and monumental
presence. Meanwhile, the horizontal components, such as roofs and overhangs, use white concrete
and lacquered steel, creating a strong visual contrast while lending a sense of lightness to
The main entrance is located at the center of the house, sheltered by a prominent cantilever
that marks the transition from exterior to interior. Here, visitors are greeted by the
stair and elevator core, designed as sculptural elements visible from multiple areas and serving
as the home's visual anchor. Social spaces such as the living room, dining area, and kitchen
are arranged sequentially, allowing visual continuity while maintaining flexibility for
daily activities. Additionally, an indoor swimming pool extends the social zone,
providing both comfort and a recreational atmosphere at the heart of the home.
The upper floor is dedicated to bedrooms, offering privacy as well as views of the garden.
Higher still, a small study or belvedere crowns the top of the house,
serving as a contemplative space with sweeping vistas of the surrounding landscape.
An outdoor pool completes the spatial experience, serving both as a recreational feature and a
visual element. Its reflective surface extends the view toward the garden, while also helping
to create a cooler microclimate around the residence. In this way, architecture and
landscape are never separate but rather reinforce one another. Casa Jacaranda embodies Ramon
Estevez's philosophy of the home as both a place of refuge and openness. The balance between heavy
materials and natural light, between rigid lines and fluid spaces, shapes a dwelling that is not
only visually striking but also provides safety, comfort, and a deep connection with nature.
It is a house that stands firm while warmly embracing everyday life.
