Hero being one of the largest manufacturer of bicycles in India has troubled the market again.
Earlier they used to manufacture bicycles for teens and for workmen.
But now with the changing market needs, they stepped into the electric bicycle market.
They didn't just step in, they're actually leading it.
Where each and every electric bicycle manufacturer is fighting with their increasing costs,
Hero smartly comes up with an affordable pricing and that's what attracts most Indian buyers.
Let's talk about the bicycle.
Well, obviously you know that the Electro series that has come from Hero, they only manufacture electric bicycles.
You can call this as an urban commute bicycle, which also has electric assist.
Talking about the frame of the bicycle, it comes with Aluminium Alloy 6061.
So this makes it really lightweight.
If we talk about an electric bike, then its weight is only 25 kgs.
Normal fat bikes, the heavy fat bikes, their weight is around 22 kgs.
And if electric power is added to it, then it becomes around 30-35 kgs.
And that is really high weight.
You might be noticing that I'm not sweating at all, even though the weather is so hot.
The reason behind this is that it has an electric motor.
Combined with those 27.5 tyres, you can easily ride it in the city.
It becomes a perfect vehicle for urban commute.
One more thing you can notice is that this is a hybrid bike.
Hybrid doesn't mean that it's an electric bike, we call it an e-bike.
Hybrid means that in bicycle terms, the tyres are meant for road and also light off-road.
Yes, obviously, you can easily ride it on the road.
But you can also do light off-road trails on it and you won't have any issues.
Even though you get a 100mm front suspension.
Now in the suspension, you also get the lockout.
If you are riding on the road, you can easily lock it.
And then your energy will be reserved.
If you unlock it, the suspension will start working.
And it will also absorb some of the potholes.
While you are riding on the road, you need some safety.
And for safety, you get front and back disc brakes in this bicycle.
You also get quick release in the hub at the front.
If you want to put your bicycle inside the vehicle and open the tyre, you can do that too.
You also get nut axles at the back.
You can see that the wire is also running for the electric motor.
Because the motor at the back is a hub motor.
And to power it, you get the wiring here.
Also talking about the safety, you also get a light at the front.
To switch it on, you just need to press this button.
And to turn it on and off, you also get a dial at the front.
So there are two buttons to control it.
Another thing that I really liked about this light is that it is a low-beam light.
People might be thinking that it should have been a high-beam light.
Let me tell you one thing.
Low-beam lights are better.
Their output is the same.
But it doesn't give clarity to anyone.
Well, the biggest point of this bicycle is that it comes with a lot of warranties.
And I have the manual with me.
If I read the warranty and tell you,
you get a 24-month warranty on the frame and alloy rims.
24 months on the front fork.
18 months on the bicycle parts.
And you can see more warranties.
You even get a charger warranty.
And a battery warranty.
So that is kind of the biggest point.
But there is also a slight disadvantage about the cycle.
If you look at the front, there is no auto-cut-off on the crevice.
Hero has given a button to composite the links.
So that the throttle gets cut off.
Let's talk about the battery and the motor.
You get a 36V battery in this, which is a lithium-ion battery.
When you are on the throttle mode, you get a range of 25 km.
And if you are on the pedal assist mode, you get a range of 30 km.
The capacity of the battery is 5.8 AH.
And that's why you can see how neatly it fits in the frame.
If you look at it electrically, there is a separate mount here.
On the airframe, the battery pops out a little.
But you can see here that the frame is very compact.
And sometimes people don't even know that it is an electric cycle.
Now, if you want to ride your cycle without a license,
you will have to keep a limit of 250W.
And its speed is also electronically limited to 25 kmph.
But if you pedal, you can reach a very high speed.
You can easily reach 40-45 kmph on downhill.
Let me just talk about the modes on this bicycle.
As soon as you turn on this button, the cycle will turn on.
You can see here that the battery power is also indicated.
25%, 50%, 75% or full.
You will always have to keep the safety switch on.
The safety switch is already on.
And if you throttle on any mode,
you will see that the tyre will start moving.
Now, there are some pedal assist modes.
If you look at the crank, there are some magnets on it.
The first mode is low mode.
If you move the pedals a little,
you will see that the motor kicks itself.
And your tyres start working.
If you go to the second mode, the medium mode,
the speed will increase a little.
And there will be a little current in the motor.
And you can easily reach the highest speed of 25 kmph.
After that, it becomes electronically limited, obviously.
On certain days, you want to push yourself.
So, you can turn off the smart mode and switch on the sweat mode.
If we talk about the rules,
then you don't have to wear a helmet while riding an electric cycle.
Even then, Hero Electro urges you to be safe on the road.
And yes, you should follow the red light and all the traffic rules.
Even though I do a little rough riding,
I can see that there is nothing written about stunts here.
But still, I am going to just check out
whether you can do stunts on a cycle or not.
Let's try out the first stunt, the wheelie.
And yes, it can.
Let's try the stoppie on this cycle.
I am able to do a stoppie even though I didn't feel the powerful brake.
Maybe there is a problem with the setting.
Electric cycles are quite heavy.
And you can't do a bunny hop on it at all.
Let's try whether you can do a bunny hop on it or not.
And yes, anything can happen on this cycle.
Because it is typically a lightweight cycle.
80% of the urban two-wheeler commute is under 5 km.
And that makes it the perfect vehicle
with which you can ride your electric cycle to the office.
And you won't be sweating at all.
You will be sweating a lot because of the electric assist.
Let's talk about the other features of this bike.
Its seat is electro-branded.
And it is kind of comfortable on city roads.
You also get Neko threadless stem.
And you will also see Spur marking on it.
Now Spur is a technology that Hero Electro
came up with their electric bicycles.
If you look at the gears, you get Shimano Tourney.
Shimano Tourney being a basic derailleur,
but it justifies the price of this cycle.
Just because your battery is integrated here on this tube.
That's why you get a bottle holder here.
Talking about the cranks,
you also get pedal assist sensors here.
And the brand is Prowheel.
Now its size is very big.
And that means if the size of the front crank is very big,
then you always have a problem going uphill.
Even though it is more stable for higher speeds.
That's why I thought to test it.
Right now I am standing at the foot of a bridge.
And the elevation of this bridge is very high.
If you go here on a normal cycle,
then you face a lot of difficulty.
Even if you go here on foot, you still face a lot of difficulty.
Now let's test out whether this electric motor is powerful or not.
Whether it can take you up from this angle or not.
I won't pedal.
I will turn off my pedal assist.
I will just see if it works on throttle.
Full throttle.
And you can see over here,
its motor is very powerful.
And it picks you up easily.
So you don't face any issues.
You do have adjustable seat.
So any of your family members can easily ride this.
Now the main thing,
what do you think is the price of this cycle?
If you look at different cycles,
I have also reviewed electric cycles on my channel.
They can easily cross Rs 60,000, Rs 70,000, Rs 80,000.
Well, its price is only Rs 30,000.
The price of an electric bike matches the price of a normal cycle.
If you look at normal group riding cycles,
their price is around Rs 40,000.
And it doesn't have electric assist.
It has electric motor, lithium-ion battery.
And I don't know how,
I think it is definitely underpriced.
I won't call it affordable,
I will call it underpriced.
So right now, our overhead is punctured.
I am towing it with this cycle.
There are certain styles in which you can ride this bicycle.
First style is that you sit on it and go.
And second style,
Uncle, there is no brake.
