How to make a colourful floral arrangement 💐 DIY flowers for weddings and events

Hey everyone! Today we're going to be making a rustic looking centerpiece for your wedding or an event that you have coming up from flowers that you can either grow in your garden or that you can find at the store or at a local farm. Okay, so to start we need this premium wet floral foam. I found it at the dollar store for two dollars. I feel like it was worth it, especially after you see this bouquet. You'll need a knife to cut the foam so that we can fit the foam into this beautiful vintage vase. You'll need these little flower cutters. They can really be scissors or anything else that you might want to use. I have a plate so that any floral extras or the floral foam that we're going to cut doesn't get everywhere. So in terms of the vase, I actually found this at an antique barn and I got it for six dollars. I feel like it's quite the catch. It is called Carnival Glass and honestly I'm pretty excited about it. I think it's going to give the bouquet an extra little oomph that I would like. And if you're having a vintage themed wedding, perfect. Okay, so let's get started. I'm going to cut the floral foam and fit it into the vase. After getting the foam out of the plastic, I'm going to visually gauge how much I need for my vase and then I'm going to cut it with my knife and then with the additional pieces I'm going to fill in the sides. Since the foam didn't actually fit the first time, I had to cut it down. Okay, we're back and the foam is now filled with water. You should let it rest for a few minutes just so that the foam can soak up the water. And then I find that when the flowers first go into an arrangement, they soak up a lot of water so you need to water them multiple times per day if you want them to last. The way that I like to make floral arrangements is I like to start with the bigger pieces and then fill in with smaller pieces after. So let's see. I decided to start off with my bear's breech just to give it a go and then I started adding other tall dahlias so that I could shape the arrangement. As you see, I'm adding in colors not quite next to each other because I didn't want to overpower one area with the same color and I'm mixing it up sizes and shapes so that it makes a beautiful arrangement. I really like those yellow flowers in the back because they're quite large and they fill it out. On another note, if you don't have access to any of the flowers or some of the flowers in my video, do not fear. You can definitely mix and match different flowers that you can find at your local store or farm and it will be just as beautiful. We're almost done here and after this we're going to add some snapdragons and zinnias to fill the arrangement out. Can't wait. So let's get some snapdragons in here now to fill in some of these cracks. Now that I have the foundation of the large flowers, I'm going to fill in some of those spaces with snapdragons and zinnias to fill the arrangement out. And how I do that is I look at the arrangement, I see where the largest holes are, and I decide based on what color I think will go well there to put it in. If you add a flower in and you don't think that it works in the area, feel free to pull it out and try again. And if there's a flower that really doesn't feel like it fits, just leave it out. It's okay. Now we're putting the zinnias into the arrangement and I love letting them stick out a bit further. It kind of gives it a quirky look, so I would definitely recommend doing that because it is cute and why not? We are coming towards the end of fitting in these additional flowers. Again, if you don't have snapdragons or zinnias, you can use a different type of flower. It is not a problem. All flowers are so beautiful and they will work perfectly for whatever vision that you have. Now we're going to work on the last part which is adding in the yarrow, feverfew, some daisies, and a bit of greenery. Just wipe down this watery workspace and get to the final touches and add the fillers. I don't know what else to call them. So we are in the home stretch here. Our bouquet is looking so beautiful and we just want to put in a few extra flowers to give it that extra oomph. You see that I put some daisies in because, again, it gives it kind of a quirky look, as they would say, whimsical. I'm also fitting in the feverfew to give some little pops of white and yellow at the bottom and in between the arrangement. Now we need to fill out the bottom with some yarrow. It has some beautiful greenery on it and that's why I like to fill out the bottom with it because it gives it an interesting texture. This is the pudding. I think it's cute. I feel like your guests would be impressed if you grew these flowers and put them together like so.
