The train was crowded and noisy, filled with passengers going to different places.
In one of the compartments, a ticket collector was checking tickets.
As he walked through the rows of people, he noticed something lying on the seat.
It was an old, worn-out leather wallet.
He picked it up, opened it gently, and looked inside to find out who it belonged to.
There was no ID card, no name, and no address.
Just a few crumpled notes and a small picture of Lord Krishna.
The ticket collector stood up and held the wallet high.
Whose wallet is this? he asked.
An old man sitting in the corner looked up and said,
That's mine, son. Please give it to me.
The ticket collector looked at the man with kind but firm eyes.
You'll need to prove it, sir. I can't give it without being sure.
The old man gave a small, toothless smile and said,
There's a picture of Lord Krishna inside. That's how I know it's mine.
The collector raised an eyebrow.
That's not enough. Anyone can carry a picture of Lord Krishna.
Why is there no photo of you in it?
The old man's smile faded. He spoke slowly, with a soft voice.
Let me tell you something, he said, looking out of the window for a moment.
This wallet has been with me for many years.
My father gave it to me when I was a young boy in school.
Back then, I had my parents' photo in it.
I loved them so much, as his voice trembled slightly.
Then I grew up. As a teenager, I started admiring myself.
I thought I was handsome.
So I replaced my parents' photo with my own.
A faint smile crossed his face, full of memories.
Years later, I got married.
My wife was very beautiful, and I loved her deeply.
I had hers instead. That photo stayed there for a long time.
The old man looked down.
Then, our child was born. A little baby who changed my whole life.
I started working less, just to spend more time at home.
I put my child's picture in the wallet, replacing my wife's.
His voice became heavy now.
But time moves fast. My parents passed away long ago.
Last year, my wife also left this world.
And my only son, he is now too busy with his own family.
He doesn't have time for me.
The old man's eyes filled with tears.
He took a deep breath and pointed to the wallet.
Now, there's only one picture left inside.
That of Lord Krishna.
The one who never leaves me.
The only one who has stayed through every season of my life.
He looked up and said with a sad smile.
If only I had loved him as much before, maybe I wouldn't feel so alone today.
The train was silent.
Even the wind seemed to stop for a moment.
The ticket collector's eyes softened.
He gently returned the wallet without saying another word.
The next station, the collector stepped down.
He walked to the small bookstall on the platform and asked the seller.
Do you have a small picture of God?
I need one for my wallet.
In life, everything we love, our looks, our family, even our closest relationships,
may fade or drift away with time.
But God stays.
He is silent, patient, and forever present.
We often turn to him only when we feel alone.
But if we remember him in every stage of life, we will never truly be lonely.
Let your heart carry his presence always, like the last picture in the old man's wallet.
