A Hat-trick up Mauao for a Matariki Nocturne. Tune in for some very early starts, classic local yarns and starry skies, all captured “en plein air” just in time for the Māori New Year.

2 different paintings were painted over three days, battling the freezing cold and sketchy weather. Using a small head lamp and a field easel, larger paintings are executed in the darkest hours of the night. Just to catch the first glimpse of the Matariki star constellation for the Māori New Year.
