Hi I'm Brad. I'm John. Now, I didn't recognise this when I first saw it. In fact, I didn't
recognise it until I actually put a couple of breaks in it. Mission Souls, as always.
The song that they're covering this time is I Melt With You, or just Melt With You,
they missed the I out on the title of the video, by Modern English, which also kind of made me go,
huh? Which is terrible. So, Modern English is a British new wave band,
so you'd think I'd have heard of them. I have heard of the song,
incidentally, I will say that I have heard of the song. I've probably heard of a bunch of their
stuff. Oh, I'm sure. Especially since they were bigger in England than they were here in America.
The song was the second single from their 1982 album, After The Snow, which was released in
August of 1982 as a single, and became the band's most successful single largely in the US,
where it also ended up featuring in the film Valley Girl, and on MTV.
I forgot about that. Yes.
Yeah, you'd know it, if nothing else, from the film Valley Girl.
Yes, exactly. Anyway, so it originally hit number seven on the Billboard's mainstream chart
in 83, and a re-release reached number 76 on the Hot 100 chart in 1990.
On the Hot 100, it only reached 78. On the mainstream rock chart, it hit number seven.
78, maybe three, that is. 76.
Info on the song? Yeah. So, that's what we're doing.
That's what we're doing. We're ready? Yes.
All right. Before we check it out, make sure you hit that like and subscribe.
Check out the description down below, where you're going to find all our links,
stuff that we have down there. Okay.
All right. Show, hit, play.
Well, this is from YouTube. I'm actually surprised I knew this by the name.
Because usually, I don't know songs by other names.
I know. It's been so long.
Like I said, I saw the name in blank. I saw the group in blank.
And then, yeah, when I was splitting it, I caught bits of the chorus,
and was immediately like, oh, yeah, I know that song.
Yeah. Of course, I knew that song.
Great parents, and they do some of their great music.
Could be argued that some of it is a little obscure, but kind of like this.
It's only obscure until you realize what it is, and then you're like, oh, that one.
I remember that. Why haven't I heard that?
Because a lot of them are. They end up being.
I haven't heard that in years.
Because this one's a good example of that. I haven't heard it in years.
Yeah, this one actually has a fair bit of drumming.
Obviously, some guitar solos.
All-round good song.
Yeah, all-round good song for a family band to cover.
I tell you, you probably know what the meaning of the song is.
I know.
That was the 80s.
We don't pay attention to that.
Well, once again, they did a great job.
Even though Jonathan was originally kind of like, what's this going to be?
Is this going to be something stupid?
No, it wasn't. It was a song that I knew.
No, they always did a great song.
Oh, they had one or two that I've been kind of like, I honestly don't know that song.
It's still good.
I don't.
But this, no, I thought this was going to be one of the.
Yeah, random songs at the end.
Yeah, a random song that missed me entirely.
But it wasn't.
Yeah, until I hear it.
It's like, you hear it, it's like, oh, yep, you know it.
They said that.
It happens to me all the time.
It's like, yeah, what song is that?
I've never heard of that song.
And then Simon starts playing, it's like, oh, duh.
Sometimes the titles of songs just don't necessarily play.
Yeah, or you just.
Honestly, the worst.
That one, it's like, yeah, I instantly thought of that.
Side thought.
The ones that are really bad for it are actually Led Zeppelin.
Let's see, get over there somewhere.
Just beyond my shoulder, I guess.
Led Zeppelin are really bad for that because they'll have, you know, the title of the song
will be a word or something that does not feature anywhere in the song.
And it's kind of like, you know, they're just the example, I think, of a problem.
There are quite a few groups who've done that.
It's kind of like, how was that?
Well, we did one just not too long ago, too.
And I didn't know.
It's like you said that name of it.
I'm like, no, I don't.
And I started playing.
And it was like the main lyric of the whole song.
Oh, yeah, it was like, how did I not know?
Yeah, well, like I said, another great performance by them.
We're obviously definitely going to continue hitting them.
Yes, we are.
If you want to see any of those, make sure you hit that like and subscribe.
