Catch 24 Species In 24 Hours CHALLENGE!

Today, I got 24 hours to catch 24 invasive species
in South Florida.
If I fail this challenge,
then I have to spend 24 straight hours
deep, deep in the Everglades.
Before we can do this challenge,
let's lay out some ground rules.
Again, I have 24 hours to catch 24 different species.
This includes mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish,
but no insects.
Insects would be way too easy.
For me to actually count a species,
I have to physically catch the animal.
I can't just see it.
The wild card is that I have three lifelines.
These lifelines are used when I can't physically
catch an animal due to legality
or due to the danger factor.
Another rule is I don't have to stay in the field
for 24 straight hours.
I can go home, I can go to sleep,
I can do other things that I need to do,
but that does cut into the timer.
The timer is not gonna stop.
I have no idea why I continually put myself
through these challenges,
except for y'all's entertainment.
Current time right now is 1253 on July 29th.
Challenge starts now.
We're starting in an urban setting like we usually do.
We're gonna try and knock out as many lizards as possible.
All right, so there's three species right here.
Basilisk, iguana that's walking, and an agama.
Obviously, there's a couple of iguanas.
I'm not gonna be able to get them all.
Right here on the fence, I'm gonna go for this baby iguana.
He just can't run.
I don't know if I can grab him.
He's gonna run if I bend down.
I gotta move my hand very slowly because he's gonna go.
Got him, baby.
Yes, sir.
First species of the video.
We got a baby green iguana.
Look at this guy.
Got some blue on the chin.
Fabulous, fabulous looking animal.
There's a basilisk right there.
No way we get that guy.
So y'all can see, it looks like it's gonna rain.
So we gotta get going, man.
So here in South Florida,
it's important to look at all these trees
because each tree could honestly
have a different species on it.
All right, decent sized Cuban on this tree.
Not today, ha, ha, ha.
Dude, that was annoying, bro.
He was just a little bit too high up.
All right, we got another anole.
What's this one?
Got it, okay.
Here we go.
Ah, species number two is anolis cristatellus.
This is the Puerto Rican crested anole.
I just totally woofed on that Cuban night anole.
Take this guy for our second species for sure.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh.
Y'all didn't even see that,
but I just wrapped around a tree
to grab this beautiful agama, holy cow.
That boy was sitting right up there on that bump
and I wrapped around the tree to grab him.
That's crazy.
Beautiful, beautiful Peter's Rock agama.
There he goes.
Three species, just under 30 minutes, we're doing well.
Kind of cheating.
We got our brown anole out of the way.
There's the brown anole.
I think that's species number four.
Here's another Puerto Rican, ow, crested.
These guys are everywhere and they bite like crazy.
Did y'all see that?
That was kind of ridiculous.
Not getting away this time.
Got him, got him, got him, got him.
There we go.
Fifth species of the challenge.
We have the regular curly-tailed lizard.
They usually have their tails like this,
but this guy got him after a chase
and now he's on my shoulder.
All right, there's number five.
He wants to keep crawling on me.
I guess we'll let him crawl on me.
All right, so we got thunder coming.
I don't know if it's gonna start pouring rain or not.
We only have five species right now and we need 24.
So we've been out here about an hour.
We're technically on track,
but it doesn't like keep progressing that way.
So we need to knock out as many as we can.
I don't know what that sound is.
That's some kind of siren.
I don't know if it's a thunderstorm siren or what.
All right, here's another little barkanul.
Have to get this guy for species number six.
Not in my house.
Unfortunately though, that does not count.
There's another one right here.
Let's see if we can get at least one.
These things are throwing me for such a loop, bro.
It's crazy.
Got it.
Got one, baby.
There we go.
Species number six.
Obviously the head is a lot different
than brown anoles and Cuban or Puerto Rican cresteds.
Honestly, not even a great looking one.
They're usually much more yellow,
but yeah, little barkanul, number six.
All right, you guys, 153.
So we are exactly an hour in to the challenge
and we're exactly 25% of the way there.
I believe we have six species, six out of 24.
It's been thundering a lot.
I don't know if a storm's actually gonna hit.
Sometimes they just pass over here.
Of course, we're gonna knock out the easier species first
and it's gonna keep progressively getting harder,
especially as we go into the night.
Really, really sold the bag on that Cuban.
I don't know, bro.
I'm glad that we were able to knock out
the three most simple anoles.
Now it's just a matter of seeing
what else we can find along this area.
And then I think we're gonna have to get out of here
because I just wanna keep this challenge moving.
Obviously, it started raining.
So yeah, I was gonna try and wait it out,
but I'm honestly starving as well.
Like I'm trying to eat some food
and I'm gonna try and eat as much as I can now
so I don't have to take time to eat later.
Obviously, six species in the first hour was good,
but every hour that passes,
that number becomes much less seto.
Yeah, we're gonna have to go to the car.
Hopefully, these palm trees can kind of cover me
from the rain because I don't really wanna get wet.
Like at this point, bro, I'm ready to just go eat.
Like I need food.
So we're about to go eat and then we come back to this.
Still six species, bro.
Well, the sun is starting to come out a little bit,
but it doesn't matter.
All right, y'all.
So I kind of lied.
I decided food is for winners
and right now I'm not a winner.
I'm a loser.
So we came to the Everglades instead.
Last time I checked in, we had six species.
Time right now, 3.42.
Nearly three hours and we still have six species.
So we gotta get something going.
Gonna try and catch some fish.
I'm literally just gonna go with like a size eight hook
and I have some like chicken that's like too old to eat.
I'm just gonna throw it on
and we're gonna see if we can get anything.
This looks promising.
There's also a good chance I get sick from touching this.
Anyways, there's gar everywhere
and there's cichlids everywhere.
So we're gonna try and throw off some gar.
There's also a lot of alligators here,
like a ton of alligators.
All right, so immediately we have fish
trying to eat my bait.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
Oh, they stole it.
They stole the bait.
Okay.
All right, all right, all right.
Game on.
Game on,
because I'm not about to play with these boys right now.
They're not about to take my bait, bro.
There's mad species up in here.
This is good.
Bro, this chicken smells like straight booty cheeks.
If any of you guys are like avid fishermen,
don't judge me, bro.
Because seriously, I'm actually good at fishing,
but I just don't have like everything I need right now.
Like I'm not really trying to like be good.
There we go.
We got species.
Yo, chill.
Chill, chill, chill.
Species number seven.
We have a bluegill.
I'll take it.
All right, we got mad cichlids over here.
Let's see if they're hungry.
I wasn't recording, but we're on.
What do we have?
We have a...
Ooh, snap.
We got a Mayan.
Mayan cichlid.
Honestly, there is like hundreds of them down there.
So he's got my hook.
Honestly, there's so many of these fish down there.
I think I'm gonna actually take these guys
and cook them up.
So that's species number eight though.
Going back here.
We're gonna try and get some more big fish.
Let's see.
There we go, baby.
There we go.
That's what I'm talking about.
Yes, sir.
Hold on.
Ooh, snap.
Good size Mayan cichlid.
And this is exactly what I mean.
We got an alligator here now.
Bro, if he goes for this chicken, bro.
Bro, there's straight up an alligator
going for our bait, bro.
No way.
All right, so the alligator just disappeared,
which is never a good sign.
So, yeah.
We're gonna just be very, very careful.
We got 10 species cause we're invoking that rule.
Obviously, I can't go into this water
and catch these gators.
Number one, I don't wanna die.
So that brings us to our 10th species.
Literally just another day of fishing in Florida.
That's probably a 10 foot alligator.
So, yeah, hopefully he doesn't mess with us.
Yeah, okay.
I don't think I have, all right.
Someone help.
I don't think I have high enough pound test for this.
Hopefully he enjoyed my bluegill.
That was a little bit annoying and he took my hook.
Comes with the territory, I guess.
What's up, y'all?
So, 7.50 PM.
We got 10 species down.
Honestly, I had to come home so I could eat, bro.
I haven't eaten all day.
Y'all saw me pull out some of them Mayans, man.
This is the only time I really condone
just taking out invasives,
is if you're gonna eat them.
And then we got some in the cooker right now, looking good.
That's some Mexican rice being made.
Honestly, it should be really good,
especially for first meal of the day.
If y'all want like a full catch and cook, let me know.
Of catching like some invasive, exotic,
basically aquarium fish, catch and cook.
Dude, that would be so much fun.
I think I'm gonna end up doing that.
So, we're gonna be heading back out
in just a couple of hours.
We're seven hours into the challenge.
Almost 50% of the way there.
I'm not worried because I know tonight
we're gonna get a bunch of species.
This is one of the most difficult challenges
because I just got home
and I've been searching this whole time.
Again, those first couple are easy, very, very easy.
But as the day goes on, bro,
as we knock species off the list, it gets harder.
9.54, which means we are basically
exactly nine hours into this challenge, man.
I have this on because there's mad mosquitoes out here
at night.
We're kind of in an urban area right now.
Gonna knock out a couple of species.
We can get at least three, four species.
We'll be at like 13, 14,
and then we're gonna head back down into the swamp, man.
Yo, we got our first, here we go.
We got a gecko.
Not today.
Got him.
First species of the night.
This is species number 11.
It's some type of little house gecko.
I don't know the exact species, but there he goes.
He went onto the ground.
The rain earlier actually did work in our favor.
It's gonna bring out a couple of species
that ordinarily don't really come out if it's too dry.
So I'm listening around and I do hear,
I do hear something that I really wanna find.
All right, well, we got a bunch of baby iguanas
sleeping in some trees.
Honestly, bro, I have to get them.
Bro, there's so many iguanas.
Look, look, look, there's another one.
We got another one.
Oh my gosh.
I got so many baby iguanas in my hand.
Dude, I got a handful of babies.
We're gonna get more.
Come here.
Bro, I straight up have six baby iguanas.
Yo, bro, I'm up to eight baby iguanas, son.
This is so crazy.
I'm being very gentle with them.
I'm not hurting these animals in any way, don't worry.
Bro, that was so nuts, man.
Eight or nine baby iguanas.
Honestly, bro, like I couldn't even hold them all
in my hands.
Like they were literally falling out of my hands.
I was holding on to so many
and there's still more up in that tree.
Wait, we got another one.
Got it, got it, got it.
Dude, wait, wait, wait, hold on, hold on.
Yes, this is definitely a different species
than the other guy, bro.
100% a different species.
This one has no spots and it has lines on its eyes.
So yeah, this is gonna be species number 12.
I just saw a head poke out from behind this tree.
It was white, which makes me think I know what it was.
Yup, here we go.
Gotta be very calm.
Got it, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it.
It's trying to get me now.
We go, baby.
There we go.
Species number 13, the tokay gecko.
This one looks like it is a female.
Wow, bro.
Wow, dude.
Look at the blues on her.
She is stunning.
Super, super stunning.
Now you guys know we have a big male tokay
in our backyard reptile aviary named Totodile.
We also have a small female.
This is a decent size adult female
who will be a perfect partner for Totodile
because our other female is too small.
Let's see if we can get him.
Where did he go?
I don't know if we can get him.
Let's see.
Oh, got him.
Oh, he's peeing on me.
A little Cuban tree frog for species number 14.
I honestly wasn't expecting to find this guy right here.
I was expecting to find him later in the night,
but hey, man, I'll always take a little Cuban tree frog.
These guys are so cute.
Look, man, first of all, a little time check going on.
10.55.
So we are, I believe, 10 hours into the challenge.
We have 14 species.
Listen, man, I cannot complain.
That is good.
We are gonna go head down to the swamp,
see if we can knock out a couple snakes.
We only need 10 more species, bro.
This challenge, I severely underestimated it, man.
I thought this was gonna be a walk in the park.
No, bro, this is like getting real, real challenging
because a lot of the stuff I'm seeing,
it's sleeping versions of what we already caught
earlier in the day.
All right, bad news, y'all.
Bad news, we are locked in this park.
They closed the gate on us, bro.
They straight up closed the gate on us.
I have no idea how I'm gonna get out.
I literally have to find a way to like four by it.
Bro, this is so bad, man.
And I had a feeling this was gonna happen too.
They were having a baseball game and everything, bro.
I had a feeling this was gonna happen.
All these gates.
So that gate down there is locked.
This one, oh, this one's unlocked.
Does this open?
Yes, yes, yes.
All right, this is like straight up my only option, bro.
This is my only option.
So I'm gonna close it though.
I'm gonna be nice, you know what I mean?
Even though they locked me in.
All right, this is not like a good idea.
Yeah, bro, I have no choice.
I have no choice.
Oh, snap.
We made it, we made it, we made it.
Bro, Dade County, you need to lock in, bro.
Y'all had someone still in the park, man.
Y'all was locking me in, bro.
I'm doing a 24 species challenge, man.
Yes, there we go, baby.
Beautiful, beautiful cottonmouth for number 15, species 15.
So right here, I kiss your don piscivorous,
the water moccasin.
Wow, bro.
It's been a long time since I've seen a live one of these.
So to finally see one, bro, just beautiful.
And look, this snake's not chasing me.
He just wants to get away.
It's kind of been like a slow night cruising out here.
I'm not gonna lie, I would definitely take a cottonmouth
for number 15.
It's been way too long since I've seen one.
That was one of, if not the biggest water moccasins
I've ever seen.
That thing was all of three, three and a half foot,
maybe even more.
And it was a chunky snake, bro.
He was healthy.
I don't know how that car,
there was a car right in front of me.
I don't know how they didn't run that thing over.
Time check, 1255.
We got 15 species now.
We're comfortably over halfway there, man.
Let's see what else we can do.
I just drove a long way.
We got the American crocodile.
It's always nice to see these guys,
but I'm gonna invoke my past
because obviously I'm not going in the water
to get these boys.
I did not see this crocodile.
Oh my goodness, that's a big crocodile.
We're not gonna get any closer than this to this animal.
This will make your heart pound, bro.
Holy cow.
That is a massive croc.
That is a beautiful creature.
I gotta be really, really careful right now, baby.
That is an insane prehistoric animal.
Yeah.
How's that for a number 16?
Good old half job, man.
All right, papi.
Oh yeah.
We're gonna take this as a sign
that this dude wants to be left alone
because I don't wanna get charged by a...
Oh man, he's bigger than 10 foot.
That's easily an 11 foot crocodile.
I drove all the way out here just for that.
I literally spent like an hour driving here
and I'm gonna spend an hour back
just for that crocodile, bro.
I did not expect to be able to get that kind of a shot.
Obviously, this is the apex predator.
This is not a apex predator.
This is the apex predator of the Everglades.
The thing about it, you could walk back here.
This animal can flip you with its tail.
It can flip around faster than you'll even realize.
Y'all can see, man.
Bro, that's kind of crazy, bro.
That kind of goes crazy, man.
Never take your eyes off a crocodile, man.
Straight up, because they can cut the distance.
Don't even take a chance, bro.
So, not another species,
but a beautiful baby Florida cottonmouth.
The colors are melting, this baby cottonmouth.
You can see we made it back to the house.
3.48, 3.48 a.m.
I think the plan right now,
so I'm gonna make some breakfast since it's so early.
And while the breakfast is cooking,
I'm gonna shower and then try and get some sleep
and then get up at a decent time
to knock out the remaining species.
So right now we're at 16 species.
Tonight, I think was a moderate success.
I think we went from eight to 16 tonight.
I'm not gonna lie, bro.
I am beyond, beyond, beyond exhausted.
Let's go ahead and add our new female tokay
to the backyard reptile aviary.
The reason I do this, not only do I just love animals
and love being out in nature,
but I'm doing this for you guys.
Just a little heart to heart, really fast, really fast.
Don't skip.
I want this YouTube thing more than anything, bro.
I've wanted this since I was a kid.
I'm gonna keep making these videos, bro,
because I love to do it.
And I know you guys love the video.
So please help your boy out.
Just like the video and comment.
Comment your most controversial reptile opinion.
Please just comment that.
Let's spark a debate in the comments
and just like the video for your boy.
I'm not even asking you to subscribe, bro.
You don't even gotta subscribe.
Just please like the video.
Bro, this thing was so clutch with the mosquitoes, man.
And honestly, my hair is a mess under here.
So I'm gonna just keep it on.
But if you guys want like a full thing
on the reptile aviary, on the balcony,
if you wanna know what species,
we have so many different species in here,
so many different plants,
just check out my last video.
I did a whole thing on it.
It's a really good video.
You guys seem to love that.
There's the new girl.
Wow, she looks insane.
Those colors are insane.
There she goes.
She is gonna do great in here.
She's gonna love it in here.
With that being said, guys, I'm exhausted.
I'm gonna eat, I'm gonna shower.
I'm gonna try and go to sleep.
Hopefully get a couple hours and I'll see y'all
hopefully bright and early tomorrow.
It's about 12.15 right now.
So we have just over 45 minutes left in the challenge.
I think I went to sleep like basically at 5 a.m.
We only have a couple minutes left in the challenge, yo.
This is really coming down to the wire.
These things are just insanely quick.
All right, we got a minnow, little mosquito fish.
Hook it through.
Throw it down here for some,
maybe we can get a baby peacock.
I don't know if they're big enough to eat this.
We'll see what happens.
Here we go.
Ooh, baby peacock got it.
Baby peacock got it and he, bro, he broke it.
He took my bait.
All right, we got an even smaller bait.
We got a peacock looking at it.
Here we go.
He wants it.
They're bait thieves.
All right, man, we failed, bro.
Dang.
Honestly, bro, I just shouldn't have slept.
I should have just stayed out there all night.
I was just so exhausted, man.
But hey, man, those are all excuses, bro.
We failed the challenge.
I don't remember how many species we got.
Put the number right up there on the screen.
I guess we're gonna finally spend 24 actual straight hours
in the Everglades, man.
That is gonna be super rough.
But hey, bro, a promise is a promise, a deal's a deal.
But I'll tell you guys what.
If this video gets 50 likes, I will do this again
because now I have a better feeling
about 24 species in 24 hours.
I know where to go, where not to go,
what to focus my time on.
I feel like I wasted hours and hours
and hours of this challenge.
And I'm pretty confident that when I do this again,
I'll be able to get 24 species.
So again, 50 likes on this video
and I'll make sure to get that one out for y'all.
I am exhausted.
I'm gonna see y'all in the next video, man.
