A magistrate named Cuiyi lived during the Song Dynasty. He was very upright and serious in handling all the criminal cases assigned to him. When he was appointed governor to the Xuan State he decided to take a boat to get there. When evening came he noticed that another boat was closely following his, but no one seemed to be on it. When Cuiyi’s boat speeded up, the other boat also sped up; and it slowed down when Cuiyi’s boat slowed. When Cuiyi’s boat stopped at a port, the other boat also approached the shore and stopped.
