From the Mountains to the Sea: Africa Twin Exploring 800+ Miles of Oregon for World Adventure Week

Hello everyone, welcome back to the Dorkside. It is July 5th, that is day 1 of the World Adventure Week, and we are headed out to complete the Day 1 Challenge. Can we do 1,000 kilometers or 600 plus miles in a week? I guess we'll find out. Let's ride everyone, I'm the Dork on the Road and I want to be your internet riding buddy so please consider subscribing. So the World Adventure Week is an event put on by KTM, it's in the Riser app, I'll put a link to that in the description below, and it is a series of 7 challenges, with one overarching challenge, and the big challenge is to get to 1,000 miles over the course of a week of riding on your bike. But there are daily challenges to go along the way. Today is day 1, July 5th, and the first challenge is just to take a ride and share it on your social media. So we're going to ride out to the Buena Vista Ferry, because it's a pretty cool, unique local destination. Let's get out there, let's get after it, let's get out to the ferry. It's pretty damn cool to take an actual ferry on a motorcycle. So let's get ridin'. I'm not gonna change a thing, maybe you'll try to hide it, pull down the curtain where the light comes in, baby we walked this road so many times before but you always stop at my door, yeah maybe we'll fight about it. All I know, is I've been around, I've seen it before, baby I know this show, I know my part, right down to the core, I don't wanna waste my time now, cause this is where I come in. World Adventure Week challenge day 1 complete, and I'm gonna post it and share it so that I get credit for the challenge. So I'll see you guys on day 2. Today's challenge is to ride through 890 meters of altitude, which is roughly 3,000 feet. So we are headed to the tallest peak in the coast range, Mary's Peak, which is over 4,000 feet high, so we'll easily crush it. And my buddy Dan's gonna be here in a minute, he's gonna ride up there with me. So let's go get this challenge done. Day 2 World Adventure Challenge. All I know, I've seen it before, baby I know this show, I know my part, right down to the core, I don't wanna waste my time now, cause this is where I come in. How it got yours beats a heart like mine, we could turn all the words to rust, but a love like ours will break with time. Take a look at that. Made it. Not bad. I've seen it before. So that is a day 2 challenge complete. Tomorrow you have to check in at a KTM dealership, very, very subtle, KTM, with your sponsorship of this event, so that'll be fun. The next day. Gonna ride into town to hit up the KTM dealership because that is the challenge for today, so gotta get a tag there. So we're here, Cascade Motorsports, checking in, this is a KTM dealer, they're actually not open. That looks like I got credit. That is the day 3 challenge complete. I've seen it before. I love this spot. Haven't ever actually stopped here on the bike before, so, there you go. Good morning everyone. Today is day 6 of the World Adventure Week challenge, so I've completed every challenge to this point. So today's challenge is ride 390 kilometers in one go. I have to map out a route that is 242 miles, so I thought to myself, I go to the mountains a lot, but I never go to the coast here in Oregon, so what if I mapped out a route up a little bit north to Lincoln City, and rode down the coast to Florence, and then home. So I just put that into Google Maps just to see how long it would be and how close it would be. It's exactly 242 miles. Is that fate, or what? So that's the challenge we're going to attempt today. Go up to Lincoln City, ride down the Oregon coast to Florence, and then come home. Which should also put us over the 1,000 kilometers for the overall challenge. It's going to be an adventure. We're here. We're at the coast. Here it is. The Devil's Concour. One ninety-five. This is the halfway point. One ninety-five down. One ninety-five to go. We can reach the sky, on a prayer we go higher than high Yeah, why don't we make a mistake? Cause it's something we can't deny But with a love like this Can't you see what you're doing to me?
