recognize that I am an interior designer,
but I really do appreciate a great exterior.
And you know what?
We need to talk about some really amazing
exterior home design trends.
So today's video, we're going over
the outside of your house.
But there's lots of videos on the inside.
All right.
So the first one that I want to talk about,
and it's actually one that my girlfriend and I
were just having this conversation about
as she's currently trying to decide
how to renovate the exterior of their home.
And that is this gorgeous white on white aesthetic.
So what I love about this is it's a classic look.
It will probably last the test of time
because it's white and I feel like
white never really goes in style.
But we definitely had a black and white moment
where we saw a lot of the black frames
with the white houses.
Well, this is all white,
plus obviously like a darker roof.
I love it with a beautiful steel roof.
And what's gorgeous about this look
is that it really doesn't matter on the materials,
whether it's brick or stucco or siding,
it will still give a really beautiful presence.
And one of the elements that I like too
is adding just a touch of light wood,
say to a porch area, if you have it,
to really just, you know,
add that extra little oomph to this look.
Now, one thing to note when I was looking up
some of these styles for exterior trends
is that really, really pure white color,
like that snow white,
I almost find that has like a bit of a bluey tinge
undertone to it.
That one's not so much on trend as more of a warmer white.
So a good color to think about
if you are wanting to say paint an exterior of a house
is to think about Benjamin Moore's Sea Pearl.
That's a great exterior color for a white house.
I'm really excited to let you guys know
that I am taking on clients across North America.
I have been trialing this here in Canada.
I've been working with clients all over
and we have come up with a system
that works for remote design.
My primary businesses that I do work with
tend to be, you know, business owners,
large corporations, small corporations too,
municipalities, school boards, and medical.
So I do tend to work on the physiotherapy side,
primarily in the medical area,
but I mean, a clinic's a clinic
and we can expand our horizons, I'm sure.
What's really exciting
is that spatialization and optimization
is a really big conversation
that a lot of my clients are having.
We are finding that in this new working style
that there is a need to rejig the office
and redefine what it looks like.
That's where my team come in.
We can help you take your space
and make it the best,
most functioning space for you and your team.
What I love is that I have partners
across the United States and Canada
from a vendor's perspective.
So let's say we are doing a space planning,
but you also wanna buy furniture.
I work with vendors all across the country.
Colorado, Texas, North Carolina, New York, and Florida
are some of the key ones that I work with,
but I do have many other vendors,
even vendors up here that can make sure
that product gets pretty much anywhere
if that's something that you need to look for as well.
I also work with a lot of commercial real estate agents
helping their clients visualize
what a potential space could look like.
So just a straight space planning,
potentially some 3D renderings
to really help give them a visual
of what the space can be achieved for them.
So I'm really looking to expand my portfolio
and bring on new clients
and expand the reach of where I'm doing design projects,
which is really exciting.
I'm gonna leave all the information
for you guys linked below.
I have my website there.
You can check out some of the projects we've been working on
as well as a contact email so that you can reach out to me
and we can set up an initial meeting
and hopefully we can work together on some great projects.
Another great trend with our homes
is doing a really beautiful and standout exterior door.
So your front door should be a showstopper.
So we really wanna think about your exterior door
as being a focal point to your home.
So think about something like a brighter, interesting color,
maybe adding some geometric designs or custom glass,
just adding a pop of interest to the home's exterior
and really drawing that attention to the front of your home.
Glass, all the glass.
We are obsessed with windows these days.
And if you are doing a new home build,
that is something that is really, really popular right now
is basically more glass, better views.
There's this real sense of creating this feeling
of inside and outside collaborating together
and more windows really do help with that aesthetic.
However, it's also a really modern look
and I feel like a lot of the popular home styles
are a little bit more modern in their take
and creating a home with more windows
and more straight edges
will really help give it a more modern feeling to the space
and really just open up the home to the outside.
And listen, I know I've heard before
when I've talked about windows
that people go into how they're not energy efficient
and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
That's not what this video is about.
This is just a nice, beautiful design,
aesthetic exterior what's on trend, okay?
Okay, I have lots of windows and I like them.
So, you know, whatever.
And my bills are not high.
Okay.
Another trend we're seeing on our home exteriors
are mixing different mediums together.
It's really going away with this look
from that cookie cutter effect
that we're kind of gotten used to seeing.
Of course, this is more with a custom home.
So when we're thinking about
how to mix our elements together,
we can think about mixing, you know,
warm and natural wood looking elements
with sleek finishes to really achieve
more of a unique aesthetic to the space.
You know, think about switching up the panel sizes
and, you know, really varying the colors and the shapes
to try and emphasize that unique shape and design
and really draw the eye in
to your favorite elements of the structure.
So something else that we're seeing is exteriors
that will really perform well over the longterm.
I feel like if you're doing a custom home
or you're upgrading an existing home,
really thinking about the materials that you use
and picking materials that are, you know, built to last
will be a real top of mind for many people.
So we wanna think about incorporating items
that are not only aesthetically beautiful,
but really do have that longevity factor
and that low maintenance, you know, factor as well.
If you're gonna pay for it and you're gonna pay top dollar,
you don't wanna have to redo it again.
So, or at least you hope you don't have to for a long time.
Something that I've seen more,
there's kind of an area not far from me
where there's a few different custom homes being built
and I have noticed this as a trend
and that's these interesting overhangs.
So instead of your traditional porch,
they've actually just kind of extended the roof line
over almost like a porch, but not really a porch.
I don't know, it's an overhang.
I would say this is more for a modern aesthetic
where you don't want necessarily a traditional porch look,
but you still want the protection of a porch
to maybe sit on and enjoy, you know, a part of your home.
But it definitely has more of a modern feel
and I think it's a really beautiful aesthetic,
especially in my mind with that white home,
white with like a black roof
and then you have the overhang and like kind of modern.
Honestly, I think modern farmhouse personally,
but it could be with many different modern aesthetics.
Okay, we started off with the all white home
and I'm gonna finish off with the all black home.
Now this one, I love.
I have seen many A-frames done in all black
with like a beautiful wood detail.
Oh my gosh, I love it, I love it, I love it.
I think it's absolutely stunning.
I would say out of all the ones that I've showed you,
this one is my favorite.
I love the black on black.
I think it just, it stands out.
There's no way for it not to stand out,
especially the juxtaposition.
I think if you have some natural forestry
or lots of, you know, natural elements around you,
I think it will really stand out.
But even if you're in like the middle of suburbia,
if your house was all black, it's gonna stand out.
It just is, cause it's all black.
So anyways, I love a black house.
I think it looks great.
So although I usually do interiors,
I hope you guys enjoy these exterior elements
that we took a look at.
Just kind of wanted to touch on them a little bit
and see what your thoughts are on these.
And if you want me to do more kind of architectural details,
cause I could do more.
If you enjoyed this video,
jump on over and check my moody interiors video next.
I think you'll really enjoy it,
especially if you're like me and you liked that,
you know, black exterior house the best.
All right, until next time, bye.
