ChineseTraditional Story: Greed is an Obstacle to Cultivation

A full moon and a few stars lit up the clear night sky. A turtle emerged from the water and climbed onto the bank. He was spotted by a hungry wild dog. Excited, the dog opened its mouth to swallow the turtle. The startled turtle immediately retracted its head and four limbs back into the shell. The wild dog anxiously sniffed the turtle. Not being able to come up with any solutions for eating the turtle, the dog felt greatly disappointed and slowly left. Once the dog was far away, the turtle remerged from its shell and escaped.
