Forging a Sword (Part 4): Linishing and Quillons

The forging of Arnander, my English bastard sword, continues. In this episode, I begin linishing—grinding and polishing the blade—and craft the quillons (crossguard) with a touch of flair.
A more experienced smith might have better judged how far the quillons would extend when hammered out, reducing the need for heavy grinding. In medieval times, without motorised tools, smiths aimed to minimise this step as much as possible.
