in this video i'm going to cover how to
find the reciprocal of a fraction now
when we think of a reciprocal we need to
think flip and that when we multiply a
fraction
or any number by its reciprocal we get
one let's jump into our examples
starting with number one where we have
three fourths and we're going to find
the reciprocal we do this by
flipping the fraction so the denominator
of 4 is going to become our numerator
and the numerator of 3 is going to
become
our denominator so we get four thirds
that's the reciprocal of three fourths
now let's multiply our fraction by that
reciprocal to show that we get one when
multiplying by a reciprocal so 3 4
our fraction
multiplied by the reciprocal of 4 3.
so multiply straight across numerators 3
times 4 is 12.
denominators 4 times 3 is 12. so same
numerator same denominator that equals
one
so again the reciprocal of three fourths
is four thirds
let's move on to number two where we
have five ninths so again let's flip the
fraction to get the reciprocal the
denominator the nine
is going to become the numerator and the
numerator of five is going to become the
denominator so we get
nine over five
fifths
for our
reciprocal
let's multiply our fraction five-ninths
by the reciprocal nine-fifths to show
that we get 1
when we multiply by that reciprocal so
numerators
5 times 9 that's 45
denominators
9 times 5 that's 45
same numerator same denominator that
equals
one
so again the reciprocal of five-ninths
is nine-fifths
so there you have it there's how you
find the reciprocal of a fraction i hope
that helped
thanks so much for watching
until next time
peace
