Ohtani gave up five runs on a career high, nine hits last week in Colorado.
That's nine runs his last two games after he gave up just five over his first eight.
Let's go, one, two, and another breaking pitch, Marte Offord, strike three.
As a hitter, you always get frustrated when the home plate umpire is calling it.
Another three, two, Ohtani finishes him off, back-footing that slider.
The way it started out, it looks like a fastball coming right out of his hand.
It has a late break, and where it started.
It started in the zone, and then falls out.
Nasty breaking pitch for a strikeout, and already the third for Ohtani.
He threw 18 pitches total in that first inning, and he threw all seven pitches that he features
in that first inning.
So maybe he's probably going, like, listen, I don't want to be predictable.
Going for a strikeout here with a runner at third, and he gets it by reaching 100 with
a perfectly placed elevated fastball.
Like we've seen him do so many times throughout his time in L.A., whatever the moment calls
for, whatever the situation of the night calls for, there's a microcosm of that.
It called for a strikeout, and he went and got it with a high-heat 27 pitch of this inning.
Ohtani rocks and fires, and gets out of it, back to the curveball, which he's riding like
never before.
Two-two to De La Cruz.
A fastball gets him looking.
And speaking of athletes, that was a tremendous pitch, 100 on the internet.
Strikes him out.
Nasty sweeper right there, sharp break to it.
And Ohtani's got seven Ks through three.
Here's his two-two to Lux.
A curve, gets a swing and a miss, and he's got a season-high eight strikeouts on a career-high
17 curveballs.
Good location, just good break.
Ever come to a break and ball, and you're wondering, is it a late break, how good is
it?
The opposing team, the opposing hitters will let you know.
One-two to McClain.
A swing and a miss, and a season-high nine strikeouts for Ohtani.
Let me guess, break and ball, curveball?
Yep.
Why not?
It's working great for him.
Crowd behind him as he fires two-two.
Ground ball to first.
Hernandez takes it himself, nine Ks over five innings for Shohei Ohtani.
