Finally here for an 8-year-old, Slugger has the ultimate hype music when he walks up to the bat.
That's right, his anthem is a theme song that is breaking news and making headlines.
So does that sound familiar?
It should. This is 8-year-old Owen. He chose the Action News theme song as his walk-up music.
Gotta love this, right? As he gets psyched to bat, his teammates are not just cheering him on,
they're also singing the theme as well.
His dad, Chris Raymond, says after carefully going through several hip-hop and rock songs,
he's like, uh-uh, that's not gonna work.
He settled on the Philadelphia News anthem as his first choice.
Action News was on in the background.
And we kind of made a joke, like, that would be really fun if that was your walk-up song.
Kind of like, you know, breaking news, Owen's up to bat.
And Owen loved it.
The first time he went to bat with this song, it was awesome.
And it's funny, every time we play a new team, and Owen's first at bat,
we always look over to the other parents and they're always like, this Action News theme song?
That's the best part, right?
So anyone who follows baseball knows that the walk-up music is a reflection of the player,
and Raymond adds it also puts the batter at ease.
This is like that little stress reliever for the kids, I think,
sometimes walking up, their teammates are cheering them on like crazy.
But, yeah, Owen loves our family.
We watch Action News all the time, so the song is ingrained in our minds,
as it is probably for everybody in Philadelphia.
He's had some good hits with this theme song,
and Raymond says he will likely keep it for Fall Ball, which starts next week.
Love it. He's like, no rock, no hip-hop, Action News song?
I'll take it.
Bringing him good luck, and we're getting the good luck, too.
Great choice.
