Simple Tiny House offers zero debt lifestyle for homeowners

Well, one of the things I like most about small houses is that you can do more with square meters. If, for example, you put the details that we did in this small house in a much larger house, it would be so expensive that it would not be affordable. You couldn't do it. This is definitely our budget model and most people in the United States can afford it. In fact, it costs approximately a tenth of the price of a normal house, simply because it is more affordable. I still want it to be beautiful and comfortable, and that it is a place that you feel proud of. And if you look at it for a moment, this is something that we started doing recently. It is a good improvement from what we did in the past. Well, something really good that I love about this house is that we have several. Houses. I'm Steven Herold and I'm the owner of Tiny House Listings. And behind me is our model called LADD, which means life after death. I discovered small houses just in the 2008 real estate crisis, and when I heard about them for the first time, I quickly realized that they could be an excellent housing alternative here in the United States and, in fact, all over the world. I decided to launch Tiny House Listings, a market for small houses. It is where most small houses are bought and sold. Just a few years ago, we went from being just a market for small houses to building them for real and, in fact, we also have communities of small houses. One of the things I like most about small houses is that you can do more with square meters. You take a box, you condense it and you can put everything inside. If, for example, you put the details that we did in this tiny house in a much larger house, it would be so expensive that it would not be affordable. You couldn't do it. There are many different things you can do, and it's really challenging and rewarding. Well, this is an economic house, but some of the characteristics that we were able to add and improve are that it does not require maintenance and has metal coating. Another thing we did was add sliding doors to the bedroom and bathroom so that there is more privacy. We also installed a bed with a platform in the bedroom, and the good thing about that is that it adds storage space. You can put many large objects under the platform. Small houses offer some advantages, and the two most important are financial freedom and the other is freedom in general. Freedom to have more money to travel and do whatever you want. Because when you look at the overall impact of a small house, from a financial point of view in every way, it is basically less burden to have one of these small houses. I grew up very poor and I know what it was like to live in a smaller space just because it is more affordable. Still, I want it to be beautiful and comfortable, and a place you feel proud of. My idea and my love for small houses is that you do not exist, but you prosper. This is definitely our budget model and most people in the United States can afford it. In fact, it costs about a tenth of the price of a normal house and we can build one of these from start to finish in about two weeks. Small houses are now, in my opinion, a category of permanent housing. They used to be something marginal that people took into account if they needed something mobile or if their lifestyle had to adapt to it. But now, I think people's brains default to a small house when they are in a certain situation, if it is ready to reduce its size or something like that. That's why I think small houses will continue to grow based on that. And I also see that, due to the conditions of the market, more and more people are considering small houses because traditional housing has become unaffordable. As you can see, we are in front of the 20x8 house and it is actually the back. The door is on the back of the small house, so I'm going to go over it quickly and show you some characteristics. 32-inch exterior door, which is made of full glass. As you can see, double black vinyl windows and we use metal coating, which is a 50-year-old product. In fact, you can choose the color you want in any of these constructions. We have a very high quality black metal roof. The small house sits on two 7,000-pound RV-style resistant axles, which adds a total of 14,000 pounds. And this house only weighs about 10,000 pounds, so there is a lot of space left over in terms of weight. A really cool feature that I love about this house is that we have multiple metal coating variations. And I like it because you really don't have to keep it. You don't have to review it and reassemble it like most of the small houses you see. You don't have to review it and repaint it. This is just there and lasts about 50 years. So it's a great feature. Another really cool feature that I like about these small houses are the mini-splits. They are amazing. One of the best inventions in a long time. This mini-house in particular, which is certified, is built in such a way that you can take it anywhere in the United States. That's why we really like that it can go. Let's say that if you have a buyer in Florida and another in Wyoming, you could take care of that climate adjustment. And the mini-split can definitely take care of that. It's a really great feature. These are practically all the main features of the outside. There are some really cool things that we have done with this new version of the laboratory that we are very excited about. And they are inside. So let's take you inside and take a look. One of the main things that people asked for was that the living room and the bedroom were separated. In the previous one, they were together. Well, here we are in the living room. And you can easily put a sofa of two full-size seats here. Which works very well. Or you could put two reclining chairs with an auxiliary table. It depends on how you prefer it. If you come to this side, you will notice that it is empty here. But we can build you a desk here if you want to put it in this space. Or you could buy your own desk. For example, at Ikea or Wayfair and put it there. And best of all, if you are sitting here, you can look out this window. So it's really nice. Here is a huge pantry. And this is mainly for your kitchen stuff. So, if you come to the kitchen area here, you will see that we did not put a cooking plate. We will put one. We did not decide if we want to use gas or electricity. That's why we didn't do it here. But you can see the butcher's wood fireplace. And I really like this big sink. And the good thing is that you can look outside while you wash the dishes or whatever is out there. Take a look. And then, below, you will notice that we did a personalized job down here. All made of butcher's blocks. You can put all your storage and things down here. Many storage options. Now, right here, this is an improvement of the previous model that we did before. And you can put your washer and dryer here. That's really good. Everything is ventilated and you can do what you need to do here. Put your washer and dryer all in one there. If you keep going down here, you will notice that we have a refrigerator the size of an apartment. We always say that it is enough for enough food for a week for one person. And I have noticed that many other small houses of this size do not have it. They usually have bedroom-style refrigerators, about which we have received many comments. Many people do not like that. They want a full-size refrigerator. You can see that we have storage space above. Very, very nice. One thing that I am going to tell you quickly is that the walls are half-inch plywood for closets. This is really very nice because it is very resistant. And when we finish this with a water-based polyurethane, you do not have to worry about scratches or stains on the wall. And if you look up here quickly, this is something that we started doing recently. We have had many complaints about the deformation and detachment of the wood. This is an engineering wood. So imagine if you took an engineering floor and made it thicker and resistant and put it on the ceiling. This is a really great feature and everything is screwed on each piece below. So there is almost zero chance that this will fall. It is a really great feature and it is a good improvement from what we did in the past. So this is like a kitchen style, as you can see. We have the bathroom on this side and the kitchen on this side. The corridor goes through the middle. If you enter the bathroom, you will see that we have a wall sink. It is a very nice feature. And then there is a sliding door to have privacy. It is a nice feature. And then we have a 32 x 32 foot shower. And we use these PVC tiles for the shower. We love them because they stick to the wall. If you look at many showers, they open to store things and that takes up interior space. This one doesn't. It's flat. It also fits very, very well. I think it's pretty cool. And we also have a cistern in the bathroom. It is very small and compact, which is great because it fits all adults. But you have more space in the bathroom. And what we always do in our small houses, because a lot of people want to go further, is to put a small power outlet in the bathroom. And the good thing about this is that most compost inodors have a fan that requires electricity. So you just have to connect it and plug it in. You can literally remove it and put the compost inodor right on top of where the cistern inodor is. Now we are in the bedroom area. As you can see, there is a sliding door that you can close to have total privacy, which is great. As I said, the inodor we made before was in its largest part. It had a living room and bedroom. All in one space. It's not great. So, definitely, this is an improvement. And we also have windows on both sides. So, if you want, you can have a cross-air current. You can see that I'm sitting on a platform. And the reason we did that is that each of these comes with a platform and allows you to have a lot of storage underneath. Now, one thing we haven't done in the bedroom. If you want, it's to put storage mounted on the wall up there, right above where your head would go. Like, for example, when you stand up. That's great for having additional storage space. Although you have a lot of storage space underneath. The reason I like this bedroom is because it has total privacy. You can close the door. So, if you have guests, or if there are two people living in the house, or if you use it for Airbnb. Whatever, it's great because you can isolate yourself from the rest of the house. And I really like all the light that comes into this bedroom. Right now it's a sunny day. As you can see, it's full of light. Finally, what I like the most is that it has capacity for a double bed. In my case, I am a big man and many people, even if they are not big, want to have a lot of space to stretch, right? So, the fact that it has capacity for a double bed is really good.
