Welcome to Math with Mr. J.
In this video, I'm going to cover the
prime factorization of 27. Remember,
when it comes to prime factorization, we
break a number down into its prime
factors. These are the prime numbers
that multiply to equal the original
number. So, we are decomposing a number,
breaking a number down to only prime
numbers. So looking at 27, we need two
factors to start breaking this down. Two
numbers that multiply to give us 27.
Well, 3 and 9 are factors of 27. 3 * 9 =
27. So let's break this down into
3
and 9. And we can go from here. So we
need to continue to look to break these
numbers down. We have three and nine.
Three is prime. So we are done over
here. And I'm going to circle three to
show that nine on the other hand is a
composite number. So we can continue to
break nine down. So let's think of some
factors. Well 3 * 3 is 9. 3 is a factor
of 9. So let's break this down
into three
and three. Three is prime. So let's
circle these and we are done. That's the
prime factorization of 27. We have all
prime numbers. We can't break this down
any further. So let's write this out as
27
equals and then we're going to write our
prime numbers here. So 3 * 3 * 3. If we
have the correct prime numbers, they
will multiply to equal our original
number. 3 * 3 is 9 * 3 is 27. So we are
correct here. So there you have it.
There's the prime factorization of 27. I
hope that helped. Thanks so much for
watching.
Until next time, peace.
