Hi you guys, it's Caitlin and welcome or welcome back to my channel. Today I am
doing a campus tour of the University of South Florida on the Tampa campus. I'm a
senior here, I study environmental science and policy with a minor in
biology and I'm about to graduate August 9th so I thought perfect time to show
you all my favorite spots on campus so let's go. Okay so this is the John and
Grace Allen building. This is actually the old USF like honors and also
dilapidated building but my favorite study spot. Now we're gonna go to my
secret most precious spot ever because this is basically central campus and so
this is my favorite study spot. I used to like sit here because it was perfect
because the view, look at the view. I just felt like it was my own mini oasis and
when the weather is really nice in the fall and the spring months it gets
really nice to just like sit here and it's usually really quiet because this
building is kind of being like vacated and I think the nostalgia of like that
old USF vibe is really cute. So the John Grace and Allen building leads you right
out to the main heart of campus which is the walkway to the MSC, the Marshall
Student Center which is where everybody is on campus at 12 p.m. so it's a place
to avoid if you don't like heavy crowds but I love this beautiful archway. We're
gonna walk through it just to show you how beautiful this campus is and we're
gonna head to the MSC now. Alright so the little break between the walkways is
obviously it's gorgeous all the palm trees but we call this the MLK Plaza so
over there is the reflection pond of sorts. Nine times out of ten it's not
really working but today it is because of all the orientations going on they
want USF to look its best. This is what we call the running of the bulls on
campus obviously because of the running water. Usually people will stand on this
bull statue right here to take their grad photos just as an FYI but this
leads up to the wonderful beautiful Marshall Student Center which was built
in 2017 and then next to that is the bookstore with Cabo coffee roasters
the lecture halls. I've had many lectures in here. I don't know if it's actually
open. No it's not open. Silly. That just makes you guys have to watch my other
videos to see what it looks like inside. And this is more of the same building
but these are the lecture halls that are actually separate to it so 1051 and
1061 which is probably where you'll have like biology, chemistry, physics and maybe
Orgo. And then in here is where a lot of the labs are. They also have a lot of
offices in here and on the seventh floor is a really beautiful overview of the
campus but let's try and go in.
Okay unfortunately the whole area was under construction so no view for you
guys. I'm sorry. Some honorable mentions are the chem building and the natural
science building. A lot of the chem labs are in the bottom of the natural science
building and then there's like a lot of like smaller courses in the chem
building. In here is also my favorite study spot which is right next to this
big geology rock and it gives you a nice look of campus while being in the AC. So
this is actually where my microphone started to die but I was telling you
guys this is one of my favorite areas. I call this kind of like the quad. It's
very quaint and there are a lot of little places where you can sit down and
eat in the nature. Sometimes though I don't recommend eating outside because
the squirrels will really come up to you and take a bite of your food and they
are not to be messed with around USF. So yeah sorry about the microphone but I'm
gonna be voicing over it.
So behind me are the theater buildings. There used to be a theater one but
apparently that's under construction right now so next to that is theater two
which I guess is just another extension of that. And then we have a lot of the
fine arts buildings further down. Everything like that, all of the arts
performance and stuff like that can be found over here. And now we're going to
head back over to the village. So now we're at the village. This is by
Pinnacle. This is where the Starbucks and the BurgerFi are which the Starbucks
has seen me plenty of times before. Pinnacle is actually where they'll take
you for a dorm tour because the village is the newest USF campus housing built
in 2017 and it's actually where I lived for two years both in Beacon and in
Summit Hall. So what I loved the most about the village was the fact that it
had a dining hall central but also that it had the Fit right across from me. Fit
is one of my favorite gyms ever. I loved it so much and I cannot thank USF
enough for having the Fit. The village was just such a hub for a lot of
exciting things happening on campus and I feel really grateful that I got to
live here. So I highly recommend living in the village area especially if you
want something new, exciting, filled with lots of freshmen. It's definitely the
place to be. The parking isn't as good as some of the other options on campus but
as I mentioned before it obviously is a newer location. It has the hub which is
arguably one of the worst dining halls on campus but it'll get you by. And just
the dorms are unbeatable with how clean, new, and refreshed that they are. Same
with the Fit being so close it's nice to just be in walking distance to such an
incredible gym. I also want to mention that I talk a lot in my freshman guide
about all of the housing options and living on campus. So that includes a
Holly, all the apartments itself, as we make our way over to the Argos complex.
So that is Argos dining hall which is a really good dining hall on campus. It has
flip kitchen, smoothie options, and then it also has like a rotating station as
well as a little coffee area which you can use one meal site a day at Argos and
boy should you use it. Argos is also home to the oldest dorms on campus. This is
Kosov which has like suite style and small kitchenettes in here and then
there is Castor across the way which is the oldest most traditional style of
living on campus here built in like the 60s I believe. So she's still kicking it
and then there is also Beda which Beda is behind Argos here. This is the little
market at Argos where you can get little things that you need as well as coffee.
I know you can't hear me as well that's because my microphone broke. I apologize.
Or didn't break it just died. This is Castor Beach, more like Castor Pond.
Okay, lots of ducks over here and then again Castor Hall is right there why it's Castor Pond.
Hello. Hello. This is a beautiful walk to a lot of the, I guess, what would you call it? Classes? Your classes on campus?
What would you call this thing?
Howdy. Okay guys my sweat level was a thousand at this point it was just so blistery hot outside
but I wanted to show you guys that behind me was the Moomin College of Business. I haven't
really been here other than one class but it's basically considered the bunker. There's a few
restaurants to know to eat as well and then you have Cooper Hall which is the fine arts building
as well as the College of Arts and Sciences and it has a subway location as well which has probably
seen me way too much this semester and back. So next to me is the new Honors College building.
This is the newest building on UF's campus and if you are an honor student you can utilize all
floors and if you're not an honor student you can only utilize the first and second floor
and the first floor houses a buddy brew coffee location which is pretty good.
Guys I failed you. I'm sorry but it is so hot outside I can't function.
But on a real note I'm sorry I really tried the whole microphone thing. I did the best that I
could and I hope that you at least got a little bit of something out of it. I obviously encourage
you guys to get the campus tour but I felt like it was nice to kind of show you guys my favorite
more secluded spots on campus and I know I didn't show you guys any of the engineering buildings
but I've never really been over there because engineers go over there. Not me. My nose was
starting to itch me the whole time as well. Oh my gosh and it was just hot carrying all of our bags
and stuff so I apologize but I hope you guys liked this video. Feel free to watch my ultimate freshman
guide video where I talk in detail about all the housing and stuff like that. How to prepare for
your first year at USF. And then I also encourage you guys to watch my vlogs because my last one
is coming up which is going to be my move out video. Yeah bye guys.
