Most Populated Countries | World Population History & Projection (1950-2100)

A timeline of world population in history and in the future. It had taken substantially all of human history until early 1800 to reach first 1 billion. The second billion was achieved in 130 years, and the subsequent billions at a growing pace. The current world population is 7.8 billion as of October 2020.

The projection is based on historical fertility rate and mortality rate. The population will continue to grow in 21st century but at a slower rate.
