In My Oxford Year, Anna, an ambitious American student, travels to Oxford for a year before starting a political career. There, she meets Jamie, a charming but sarcastic professor. They fall in love, but Anna later discovers Jamie is terminally ill with cancer and has chosen to stop treatment.

Despite the heartbreak, Anna decides to stay by his side, giving up her job offer in the U.S. They live deeply and meaningfully together until Jamie dies from complications.
