Selena is so mature, she’s actually not wasting this single season, she’s living her life and becoming the best women for that right men, i believe she will find love at the right time💗💗
No, they didn't hear me and they didn't really care, so I was just like, all right.
Selena Gomez is getting honest about being single.
In a candid new interview with Sirius XM Hits 1 LA with Tony Fly and Simone,
the Lose You To Love Me singer opened up about her relationship status
and how she's embracing her independence while promoting her new track, Single Soon.
I think everybody goes through the phase of, oh, it'd be nice to like
have someone and I get that, but, you know, I'm just enjoying where I'm at.
And I just want to be happy with who I am so that whenever that person comes into my life,
I can just have them add on to me instead of being this insecure, you know,
person that I normally used to be.
Well, we remember seeing a video a while back where you were yelling
at some soccer player that you were single.
Not one of them gave a damn.
What?
No, I didn't think they heard me.
But that's what I that's the first thing I thought of when
we heard you were releasing the song Single Soon.
Yeah.
Oh, look, she's still celebrating being single.
That's great.
Yes, it's basically my way of saying it's totally OK being on your own and it's fun.
During the conversation, she also opened up about what she looks for in a partner.
In Single Soon, you say you're high maintenance.
Yes.
Are you?
I think I have standards.
And I think I live in a world right now where boys confuse standards with high maintenance.
Yeah, it's not the same thing.
It really isn't.
But the line was really fun because I'm not ashamed to say I actually
require X, Y and Z for you to be with me.
Good for you.
So in a way, it was just meant to be for the attitude of the song.
And that's genuinely how I feel.
What are X, Y and Z, if you don't mind?
I mean, you got to be you got to be cool, man.
Not cool in the sense that people think you're cool.
You just got to be nice.
And like, please make me laugh and also just be good to my family and people around you.
That's a good X, Y, Z.
Yeah, I think so.
We'll see.
Selena, who turned 31 in July, also reflected on this new decade in her life.
In the video, you were having a time.
Yeah.
And I was like, I want to be there with you.
It was so fun.
Is that what a Selena Gomez single girls night is like?
Honestly, yeah, it really is.
It's so much fun.
I mean, you know, my friends will just pick up and want to go somewhere.
We'll take an hour and a half drive out of the city and then we'll end up, you know,
staying at a place and meeting new people and going out to eat.
I constantly I'm so enjoying my 30s.
So I feel lovely.
You feel like this is kind of a way this is kind of a way to tell your fans not don't
worry about me anymore.
Yeah.
Actually, that's a really sweet way of putting it.
I'm so grateful that people have listened to my journey and hopefully related to it
and understood that I was just trying to show everyone that I wasn't in a good place.
But it wasn't because I just wanted freedom from all of that negativity.
And once I released it, it just it feels so much better.
I mean, I have new problems, but now I can figure them out on my own.
The Only Murders in the Building star, who dances freely with friends in the music video
for the song, also shared that her upcoming album won't be full of sad songs as she prepares
to release new music.
It was a few months ago because I was like, OK, I want to release something.
But and we're nearly wrapping up the album.
So I was like, I want to I want to release something fun before we start into this whole
new era.
And then we gave the song to Benny Blanco in Kashmir and it from there just went to
another place.
And so I loved it and it worked out really well.
So what is what is the whole new era going to be?
There's not one sad song on my album, and I don't mean that in a way like everything
is not full of meaning, because I think even the most poppy songs can have heart.
And I want that to come across.
But I genuinely don't feel like I have anything in me to write something negative.
It just doesn't match with where I am anymore.
And I live in sad girl music world.
I love that.
And I'll write that music all the time.
But I just felt like this album shouldn't be that.
What do you think attributed to you being in this space?
That just sounds wonderful and joyful.
Thank you.
It's a lot of hard work.
You know, I went through a really tough time and it was a lot of emotional stuff going
on in my head and in my life.
And I just feel like it took a lot of work.
And that's therapy and that's surrounding yourself with good people and figuring out
what who am I?
You know, it's so it's so hard to just be.
I mean, on our show, I think I talk about how many times a week my therapist said this.
Like, I'm like, we're all works in progress.
Yeah, I don't think we'll ever really have it figured out.
I just know that I have a better idea of the hot mess that I am and I can deal with it.
You know.
