ExclusiveKeanu Reeves and Alex Winter Bring ‘Godot’ to Broadway

Keanu Reeves calls performing on Broadway a kind of dream. Reeves joins longtime friend Alex Winter in a new production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot. I love the play Waiting for Godot. I've loved it since I was a kid, late teenager, and you know I got exposed to, brought to Broadway by a stepfather who was directing the show. The duo takes on the roles of Vladimir and Estragon, two wanderers bound together by conversation and companionship. Winter describes the work as a play about friends. It's a play about friends and it's a play about friends who have performed together and the sort of travails and tribulations of living life both in companionship and separately and so there's a lot of that that can be brought to giving these guys some grounding. Jamie's vision for these types of plays is often quite grounded which is you know simpatico with our approach to the characters. Gives it a real humanness and I think a relatability so I think that's been very helpful. We have kind of the kind of dual experience of being friends off camera but also having history performing. First staged in 1953, Waiting for Godot has captivated audiences for over 70 years with its poetic yet probing dialogue.
