These are the Meyers, an ordinary Swiss family, and they live in a little mountain village
in the Alps.
Like with many Swiss families, the Meyer kids enjoy riding their bikes.
What makes them different?
Well, they're fast.
Normally.
Your kids are pretty good, huh?
They're a bit slow today, no?
Oh yeah, sorry.
The answer is Phil and Jessica.
The main thing was I didn't want them to love or to like what we do, just because we
do it.
With Jessica, we're not pushing them.
If they want to go into another way, they're completely free about it, and it worked pretty
well.
Phil owns a bike shop, but he used to be a pro biker and skier, and he was fast, too.
But now he's not as fast as the kids, but that's okay, because he's really old.
When Phil and Jessica are working, the boys look after Billy.
Next stop, Le Châble, terminal station.
Until recently, the rest of the family were not sure she enjoyed biking at all, but it
turns out she loves it.
Wow, it's so beautiful!
Are you going to follow me for the six turns below?
Yeah.
Are you going to stay behind Charlie?
He's really going to take the line you need to take.
That way you can see where he takes the exit and where he dives back in.
Yeah.
Yeah?
Does it work?
If he goes too fast, you scream.
Too fast!
And if he goes too slow, you scream too.
Too fast!
Does it work?
You want to do that?
Yeah?
Loé and Charlie, they are supporting the sister, and she just follows her brother.
She trusts them 100%.
It's safe to say the Meyers love their biking.
It was cool, we did a lot of jumps and everything.
And you?
I loved everything.
Okay.
Tell me how you enjoyed this afternoon.
It was good.
It was just good?
No, it was really good.
It was incredible.
Brilliant.
On the weekends, the Meyers go to bike competitions.
And they do rather well.
For me, what they live now, it's just beautiful.
Because we can be the whole family together.
We go all together to most of the races.
For Jessica and myself, it's great.
The way they support each other, and the way they push each other, it's just magic.
So what is the future for this ordinary family?
No one knows.
But I suspect we might hear of the Meyers a lot more.
