How to Access the Power of God (The Law of Faith).

I want to talk to you today about power. Do you know there are many types of power in the earth? Of course you know there's electrical power, there's nuclear power, there's gas power, and all of these types of power have actually made the quality of life so much better. I mean today in our modern day you can access stoves, microwave ovens, we can have air conditioning, we can actually get into a car because of gas power and drive to the locations we want to get to instead of walking or riding a donkey. And so power has improved the quality of life for people and we're so thankful for it. But do you know there's an even greater power than that of electricity and gas and there's a greater power than nuclear power and that is the power of God. And his power is making life so much better for millions of people every day and I'm one of them and I hope you are too. But if you're not one you can be by the end of today's episode. You know God's power is always present everywhere you go just like electricity. Do you know throughout history electrical power was always present but people didn't really understand it. They didn't know how to harness it and use it. I mean throughout history people have witnessed lightning bolts coming from the sky during storms and so they saw that there was great power out there but they weren't able to access it until the more recent centuries I should say. And that was because somebody took an interest in it and I believe that they were guided by the Holy Spirit to take an interest in it. You know knowledge just keeps increasing every year that goes by and God's revealing more and more as each decade goes by. And so for the benefit of mankind for the benefit of getting the gospel out I believe that some of these power sources were harnessed. Now you could harness the power of electricity and we talked about this in past episodes and for instance like in a building like this you can have access to that power if you flip a switch on. But as long as you don't turn the switch on the power is present but it doesn't do anybody any good. Well it's the same thing with God's power. His power is always present but the majority of people on the earth have never learned how to access that power. You know it's not a hard thing it's just a matter of learning it. Once electrical power was discovered as far as how to harness it it became easy for everyday people like you and me. And I think it's the same way with the power of God. It can become easy for us if we just learn how to access it. Now there are laws that govern power. You know there are laws of electricity and all of us hopefully learned at a young age don't stick your finger in an electrical socket because if you do you're going to feel some power and you're going to get zapped pretty good. And there are people that did not respect the laws of electricity and they died because they were shocked to death. The same thing with nuclear power. It can benefit you but it also has destroyed cities and villages and nations through use in wartime. And so even though power sources are good and they're helpful we do have to learn how to cooperate with the laws that govern those. Well there is a law that governs the power of God and it's called the law of faith. And in Romans chapter 3 in verse 27 it says here the Apostle Paul writing he says where is boasting then? It's excluded. By what law of works? No, but by the law of faith. So we see from the scripture there's actually a law of faith. Now faith is probably one of the most important subjects in the Bible and yet it's amazing to me how few preachers on our planet actually preach along the lines of faith. You know I've heard stories where pastors have pastored for decades and never once taught a message on the subject of faith and yet the Bible's filled with faith. As a matter of fact in the New Testament alone the word faith shows up 245 times. And you know if you had access to a concordance you could do a study on it yourself and you would see how important faith is. In the life of the believer you know first of all the Bible teaches us that without faith it's impossible to please God. In Hebrews 11 6 it says for he that comes to God must believe that he is that he exists and that he's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. So God rewards us and it comes through faith. We also see this without faith you can't be saved because Ephesians 2 8 says for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God. Now that's a scripture that's universal in the true church of Jesus Christ and we can see from that scripture alone that faith is important. In another place it says we quench the fiery darts of the devil by faith. Ephesians 6 16 says above all taking the shield of faith wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Now listen there's 245 places in the New Testament that talk about faith. I'm just giving you four here and here's the fourth one. Faith is important we know that because Jude in the book of Jude he admonished us about it. Verse 3 he said beloved while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation I found it necessary necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. So we see this that anything we need from God can be obtained through faith. Now let's look at how the law of faith operates. You know we all know how electricity operates but we really want to know how does the law of faith operate so we can access the power of God. And why do we want to access that power? His power heals our bodies and there's a scripture that tells us that we're kept by the power of God. So once you're healed you're kept healed or you live in health by the power of God. Our minds are kept sound by the power of God. Our finances flow in other words we have provision from heaven so that we can pay our bills and have food to eat and live a somewhat comfortable life because of the power of God and because of faith. So in Romans chapter 10 we're going to look in verse 8 it says but what does it say the word is near you it's not all the way up in heaven somewhere far off where you can't reach it it's near you in your mouth and in your heart that is the word of faith which we preach and I'll tell you what Paul preached the word of faith I preach the word of faith I feel like I'm in good company and then verse 9 says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead you will be saved. You know some people that want to be cantankerous about this so-called faith teaching they have to understand that that's how they got saved. So this is not this is not false teaching this is biblical teaching and verse 10 says for with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. So what do we see about the law of faith from these verses we see that faith has to be in two places it has to be in your heart and it has to be in your mouth and so people can actually believe the gospel message but until they confess Jesus with their mouth they can't be saved because faith is in two places. You know I grew up in a denomination where we confessed salvation we confessed the gospel every week when we were in church it was 100% scriptural but so many people that were confessing with their words didn't actually believe it in their hearts therefore they couldn't be saved. Some people they believe it in their heart but they don't say it with their mouth so it can be one place or the other but it has to be both in order for it to work heart and mouth. Now this law of faith is repeated again by Jesus himself in Mark 11 23 he said assuredly I say to you whoever says to this mountain be removed and be cast into the sea notice he has to say to it he speaks to it and even though Jesus used a mountain in this illustration if we were to back up which we're not right now but you can if you want to in your own bible initially he cursed a fig tree and the disciples noticed that it withered from the so if Jesus was going to teach us a lesson that this only works for fig trees he would have used the fig tree here in verse 23 but instead he said whoever says to this mountain he was near a mountain so in other words it works for fig trees it works for mountains it'll work for anything you're facing in life that needs to be removed be removed and be cast into the sea and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will be done he will have whatever he says so we see again here that faith has to be in two places it has to be in your heart and in your mouth now I believe this particular scripture here is so powerful because one of the things Jesus is showing us is that believers primarily are not failing in the area of believing as a matter of fact in this verse he talks about believing one time but he talks about saying three times and that's because most people are missing it in their saying you know it's not enough to believe the right thing but you have to be saying it when we say what God says we're actually expressing agreement we're releasing our faith in his power and what he says about it so again looking at the scripture Jesus didn't say that we're going to receive what we believe he said we're going to receive what we believe and say heart and mouth heart and mouth now just as a point of review if you've watched our previous videos faith does it comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God Romans 10 17 but faith is not released by hearing it's not even released just by having it in your heart it operates by speaking God's word out of your mouth once it's in your heart if you just say the scriptures and they're not in your heart in abundance it won't work that way either so when we hear God's word we believe but when we speak God's word we receive I'm just trying to get across to you this is the law of faith we're trying to access the power of God you can't do it apart from your saying you can't do it apart from your confession now here's another important point I want to get across to you today laws are free from your emotions in other words electricity is going to work for us whether we're having a good day or a bad day the law of electricity will work whether you're happy or whether you're crying and sad and so we don't go into a room and say well I don't think the electricity is going to work today because I'm sad we all have enough sense to know our emotions don't control these laws but in the same way the law of faith is not moved or controlled by emotion and this is where believers have to understand this that sometimes we earnestly cry out to God because we have a heartfelt need and we start bawling and squalling and crying and getting all emotional and we just somehow think because we've been so emotional and we have this strong emotional feeling that God's heard us and therefore we ought to have our prayer answered but I want you to know today the law of faith works apart from any emotion you might have and that's good news because even if you're feeling really bad and really low this law of faith can still work for you even if you're still having symptoms of disease in your body and you don't sense anything's changed in your feelings this law of faith could still be working for you now this is really hard for some believers to understand that this law will work apart from what you feel but this is good news because no matter what you're feeling God's faithful amen you know our emotions are not what moves the power of God it's our faith that moves and accesses the power of God our faith is what we believe in our heart and what we say with our mouth I know that this seems redundant but sometimes a repetition is what allows it to get inside of you so again whether we feel like it or not God's word can work for us we access the power of God by believing the scriptures in our hearts and confessing them out of our mouths and let me add a third dimension by continuing in it you know sometimes people start out strong and they really are releasing their faith but if any length of time goes by they get discouraged and they stop continuing you know I heard a famous preacher say years ago inconsistency lies the power and so we want to be sure to be consistent every day of our lives we want to wake up we want to believe right we want to speak right you know another preacher said your faith does not stay strong or doesn't stay in place any more than your hair stays combed in other words you have to continually feed your spirit faith food or the word of God and you've got to continually say what God says but if you'll hold fast to those truths from the word and continue to say what God says and don't give up I guarantee you will access the power of God it'll begin to work in your situation whether it's healing or finances or whatever your need is God is interested in meeting that need his power is always present and so I just charge you today access that power by faith and your life will be so transformed hallelujah well that's all for today I want to thank you for joining me once again I also want to
