How to Roller Skate

It has been years since I have gone into the rink to practice.
What am I practicing for?
Nothing.
I'm practicing for life.
You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.
I skate all the time, but I wouldn't say I practice.
It's been years since I've stretched at that wall and then gone out and done dance runs
and turns at speed and stuff like that.
So this felt very, very strange.
So I need to get better at it.
Practice is one of those things that you have to practice at practicing, which sounds ridiculous,
but it's a learned skill to focus and have a plan and actually set your mind to practicing.
I used to practice when I was training.
I would practice about four days a week.
When I was a child, I practiced a lot.
I never practiced every day.
I've talked about that before, but my parents were of the mindset that you needed a break
from something.
We had really late practices.
It makes sense because people work.
I didn't understand it, but people work.
And so when they're off work, there's usually a session at the rink and then there's practice
for the club.
So when I was a kid, I was up very, very late at night because my parents, they were both
skating coaches and I would go to the rink with my dad at like 8 p.m. and we would skate
until around midnight.
And I had a whole routine.
I would go to school, of course, and then I come home from school and I normally take
a nap, wake up, do some homework, eat dinner, go to practice.
That was my schedule.
So I had to take a nap in the middle of the day or else I wasn't going to make it because
we would do this Mondays, sometimes Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
And then Thursday, Friday, I wouldn't skate.
Saturday morning, I would skate.
Sunday morning, I would skate.
So now that I think about it, that was Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
That was four or five days because Tuesday was optional.
My final Tuesday was freestyle and I stopped doing freestyle when I was like 11 or 12 because
I was horrible at it and I hated it.
So yeah, this was fun.
This was a fun little adventure to come practice.
Our cool kid, Nicole Leonard, just returned from the roller skating championships in Australia.
She came back a world champion.
To reach her goal, Nicole put in tremendous effort.
Also, it is truly amazing how sweaty you can get in only like 10 minutes skating dance.
There's really no workout like it.
The closest that I have available to like doing records of dances is my scooter push
drills.
You should definitely check those out in the membership because those are killer and like
the best way, the absolute best way to build up your strength and to build up your endurance.
Determined to win and ready to share the joy of her experiences, she is our cool kid, Nicole Leonard.
