Taylor Swift visits Children's Mercy days after wrapping Eras Tour

One of the world's biggest pop stars spent part of her day visiting sick children right here in Kansas City. Fresh off her Final Eras Tour stop Sunday in Canada, Taylor Swift made a Children's Mercy Hospital stop. And that's where Fox Sports' Dave DeMarco is tonight. Live with some of the images and reactions of some very surprised and excited parents and kids. Yeah, a really special day out here. You know, when you hear that a special visitor is coming to a children's hospital this time of year, you can probably guess who people were expecting. But these children certainly not disappointed that it actually turned out to be none other than Taylor Swift. There was a buzz at Children's Mercy Hospital this morning just as a local first grader was about to be released. Caregivers said she might want to stick around for lunch. I was already kind of getting suspicious with how everyone was acting because this was a lot for Santa. But never in her wildest dreams could the 6-year-old imagine the person walking through the door was the pop star she dreamed of meeting. Taylor Swift. I told her my favorite song. Which is? Bad Blood. They talked about her tour and her last concert. She said I made her day. As Swift made the days of a lot of other children going through tough times around the holidays. She met 12-year-old Blake who was diagnosed with leukemia in June and just received a bone marrow transplant yesterday. Struggling with recovery when the pop star popped by and suddenly he was more talkative than he'd been with any of the staff. He was able to show her the chief's blanket his primary care physician gave him that he's taken with him to every one of his hospital stays. Swift had a chuckle when she saw it said, go Taylor's boyfriend. The mom of the little girl already home from the hospital happily going through her signed tour book. Says after an especially rough week and an ongoing medical journey for Taylor Swift to call her her bestie means a world of difference. She doesn't have to do this. She doesn't have to come and give so much of her time. But she did and it literally has made her little 6-year-old life. What's it like having Taylor Swift as a best friend? Awesome. I'm sure it is pretty awesome. Now that 6-year-old is going to be turning 7 next week. John and Bria and she wanted to pass along a very special happy birthday to someone. I'm sure Swifties know is going to be celebrating her birthday tomorrow. Reason that 13 is so lucky and special. So I suppose from all of us here at Fox 4.
