We were going to go for a sunset walk and we found a bunch of shells so instead of a walk, we decided to make a video. The crazy part is that we were shelling in the evening, so everything we found had been sitting on the beach all day long before we stumbled upon them. Lace murex, apple murex, olives, lots of angel wings a live lightning whelk and some hermit crabs will also be making an appearance.
so on this particular evening my husband
and i thought we would just go for a
walk at the beach
kind of see what was going on we have
some kite surfers there in the
background and
in about five seconds we found this so
if the shells are gonna come to us well
i guess i'm gonna bring a video to you
welcome to another swf beach life video
if you like the beach and things beach
related
i do recommend you hit that subscribe
button and the notification bell because
i
bring you a new video every single week
so yep guys we were there for all of
about five seconds we found all those
fabulous shells so we decided all right
if the shelves are gonna come off
come to us we're gonna go shelling we
have a kitten's paw
and we have this lovely scallop
and look at this we found a whole pile
of stuff here we have an
olive and that looked like a little
lightning whelk
and what else we got we have another
olive
broken tool up guys this is at like six
o'clock in the evening these shells were
sitting here
all day that's an apple murex
i that part really there's a moon snail
that part really uh i thought was
amazing that these literally were
sitting here
all day long just kind of waiting for us
that is a juvenile
florida fighting conch looks like we
have a little piece of coral
what else we got oh a little baby
lightning well put pretty colors on that
guy
and there we have some sort of worms now
and that coquina kind of hard to see but
he was real pretty bright orange color
looks like we have an auger
and what do we got here i don't know
what that is
no clue it's a little guy it's kind of
swirly
and here we have another lightning well
those are going to come in handy i'm
going to tell you about that toward the
end of the video
why all those little lightning wilks are
gonna do
me and someone else a little bit of a
favor there's another one
little guy great color
you know what do we got here muir x
looks like yep there's another apple
murex
and another lightning well a little guy
but that's all right
all right this i've had other people
tell me it was a drill
i really think it is a ribbed cantharis
again i'm welcome any other kind of
feedback i can get
it's a pretty tangerine scallop
that's not an actual name of it just a
scallop but i like the color tangerine
so this is what we came for and we ended
up with all those shells
it's a nice time i don't normally make
videos toward the end of the day so this
is kind of nice to bring you guys
something a little bit different
wasn't quite so hot and the shelves were
just waiting for us to come which was
also very nice
here we have a juvenile florida fighting
conk
a little bit windy out we have another
apple
that was fun one of the first ones we
found we got on the beach was a
lace mirror that's also very fun look at
this guy
now i know it's really purple because it
was it's been in the water but
oh very pretty you have another calico
scallop
and this i thought it might be a
kitten's paw but i think
that's just some sort of little oyster
kind of neat
that's a calico clam
looks like we got another little
lightning milk he's a little faded but
he's in great shape
a little moon snail
cool
and another calico scallop
love those guys all right so this
not from a flamingo this is from a
rosette spoonbill this footage was taken
one morning as i was going for a walk i
figured i want to show you guys
that is what a rosette spoonbill looks
like they are
neat they're pink now because of the
food that they eat they have
that funny looking beak i just think
they're kind of neat so i wanted to
share that
here we have a jewel a spiny jewel box
i like them when they're all spiky and
spiny
oh there's another shark eye that looks
oh that's fabulous i love those guys
you got another scallop
kind of pretty
and another spiny jewel box
and another spiny jewel box this one's
got a little bit of a pinkish hue to it
now guys soon it has now reached the
angel wing part of the video
these guys they were everywhere
i must have picked i don't know we'll
see that was one two this looks like
number three
just sitting there on the beach
kind of neat look here's four
probably a lose count at some point and
again i believe these are all angel
wings and not
false angel wings which are a little bit
flatter
toward the end this these all seem to
have those ridges on them
and there's another one i'm not going to
pick it up i can tell that it's broken
and yet another one isn't that funny
you come across a patch and you just
keep finding the same shell
and here okay so this i actually thought
this little guy was dead
a little hermit crab and then i waited
and i saw a little movement so he's
alive
he was moving a little slow so i figured
i'd kind of get him back to the water
he was pretty far up on the beach so
just in case that helps
them out we'll put a little bit of water
there's yet another angel wing
and another and again those are bro i
can tell they're broken so i'm just
gonna leave them
looks like we have a juvenile fighting
and a disc docina
looks like somebody drilled a hole in
that guy
and another angel wing literally just
everywhere okay
this is called technically it's called
sea pork i like to call it beach brains
because it just looks like this
i don't know brainy gobby looking stuff
it is an
organism it does filter water so when i
can i just like to kind of get them back
to where they should be
there's another spiny jewel box
and this little coquina i really like
the coloring on that guy the stripes i
thought that was neat
and this guy this little critter he's
fishing
now speaking of critters we saw a little
commotion
and this family had stumbled across upon
this giant lightning well um the issue i
don't know if you heard
what the little kid said i really he
wanted to keep it so we kind of
explained this is a live animal you
can't keep it you're gonna have to put
him back
but i did give him a lightning well
shell one of those little ones i found
earlier in the video so i was hoping
that would
pass by him at least he would have a
little treasure to bring home
and this guy could safely be put back
where he came from
so now we're heading at this point back
up north way out in the distance you can
see the pier on fort myers beach
and this i thought i was really kind of
hoping this would be a snail like okay
cool what is this guy doing
so i get down there i'm kind of looking
he's clearly
moving around he's all right water the
sand is pretty moist
i kind of took a closer look and said
hey
that's not a snail again a little little
hermit crab take a little bit closer
look
yep you believe that for him it's like
this giant shell he's lugging around but
it's a little hermit crab oh pretty
this pale pink scallop
and this this is a little different
yep it is a sand dollar and it's broken
but it's alive so i don't know that i've
ever seen one
miss you know a live one missing so much
but
he seemed to be you know alive he was
still moving around so make sure just
kind of
find him a spot put him back
let him do his thing so this is what the
beach looks like
in the evening i don't normally bring
you here this time of day so
just wanted to give you a little preview
it is kind of pretty and i don't know
maybe i'll
make a habit of coming back here a
little more often
so on our beach walk these are all the
goodies we got didn't even mean to do it
yet
we were so fortunate a bunch of those
murax some of those
uh moon snails all that lace mirrors
that was really fun and some olives the
lightning whelks
some coral the scallops of course gotta
talk about the scallops and the angel
wings and it just
again didn't mean to do it and just
ended up with all these goodies so as
always feeling
super grateful and really happy that i'm
able to share with you
so if you like my video i am going to
ask you again to please subscribe
because i do bring you beachy goodness
every week thanks so much for watching
and see you again soon
