How to Make Blown Glass Globes

Hi, my name is George, and we're here at GlassCrafters.
I'm going to demonstrate how to use the crystal colbons and a torch
to make a Christmas ornament,
or
it could be a plant
watering bowl.
We start with an empty crystal colbon,
which is just a long glass tube with a bulb at the end.
It's made of fusible glass.
I'll start by putting my selected color, a frit,
inside the tube.
This can be powder, or fine frit, or medium frit,
but typically better not to mix the sizes. Just stick with one size, but you could
mix the colors, certainly,
to make a different colored ornament.
Just wipe off the excess, because I don't want to get that on me.
Always wear your goggles.
I'm just trying to warm the tip
to get the frit to begin to stick on the inside of the colbon.
So here's what it looks like now with the frit stuck on the inside.
After that cools,
I can cut it off the tube,
and apply a little cap to make it into an ornament,
or I can keep it just the way it is.
