first took photos In some old A-frame cabins That did well on Instagram back in 2016 Pretty sure it was this one I stayed a while And reminisced on the old simple days Before moving onward They fell perfectly like that No way That's kind of funny And we got back before dark To cozy up, make dinner And keep creating And finally clean up the kitchen counter You want more Maybe there'll be some chicken for you, all right We had so much fun today Hudson and I Honestly, this was One of the best days I've had in a long time Wandering down the cabin road And exploring Seeing the stream from different angles And I grew up not far from here The cabin itself It's just so much more than just the structure It's the whole area These are my hills This is my soul Walking barefoot in the March mud I just felt so connected To the land today I knew it It still needs to cook Unbelievable It's been in there for 40 minutes There's a lot of history along here There used to be mills Like back in the day Probably late 1800s Early 1900s This road was a highway And now all there are is remnants And I just drove up the road on an electric bike And it's just wild How fast things have changed Being here Seeing the old foundations And the stone walls It reminds you of the past Thinking about the past Reminds you to slow down Because back in the day They didn't have the rat race They didn't have the screens They didn't have the credit cards They didn't have all the stuff That keeps our society It was a different time Something's outside I can hear it I keep hearing cracks These kind of days can creep up on you But when they come You gotta savor them This is home And it always will be And on our last morning I had the painting close to finish And outside The first signs of spring were popping up It rained hard all the previous night And the river was higher Than it's been in a while And I ended my soulful trip With a dip in the ice-cold march runoff And was grateful To have my own piece of the earth Down by the river
