It's so hot.
Good morning.
We're going down to see pigs before it gets too hot.
Okay, I just got ready for the day, or kind of.
I'm still in my pyjamas, but it is a Saturday.
In the summer, I don't really love having anything much on my skin.
So all I've done this morning is a little bit of concealer.
I use a mix of the Merit Minimalistic, of course.
This is in shade Linen.
And then I also use the Houselabs concealer.
This is in shade 11.
I really like this. It's got a really dewy finish to it.
And I just use a cream blush.
Today I used the Rode Pocket Blush in Sleepy Girl.
It almost has kind of purple-y undertones, which I think makes it look natural.
So I really like that one.
Then I just gel my eyebrows. I use a bit of mascara.
I absolutely love this one.
This is the Hourglass Unlocked mascara, just in Ultra Black.
I think it's just black.
So good.
And then lastly, today I used the Rode Peptide Lip Shape in shade Press.
Which is kind of similar to the blush shade that I use.
It's like a really thick kind of lip liner, which I really like.
Because I always just roughly outline my lips.
Because I have lip blush done, which I've said a few times.
So my lip colour a lot of the time is just my normal lip colour.
And then I just put...
Not my natural lip colour, of course.
You know what I mean. I wake up with that colour of lips.
And then I just put a clear gloss on.
So that's all I've done today.
I feel like I'm still half asleep. That probably wasn't very coherent.
But my dad the other day also put up a temporary...
Not a temporary. It's kind of just like a makeshift washing line in the garden.
It just felt like such a shame with all the gorgeous weather
to be constantly drying all of my laundry in the house on like a heated rack.
It just felt like a waste.
So I'm going to go try it out and see if it works.
Don't tell me these aren't amazing.
I cannot believe it took me my entire life to rediscover dungarees.
I actually remember as a child...
Also, what's making me laugh is someone told me that this blouse makes me look like a Victorian child.
And I feel like adding the dungarees into the mix probably hasn't helped that narrative.
I love them. You know what it is?
I can remember being a child and the feeling of dungarees just feeling so free.
And just like you can honestly do anything.
Like I am ready for anything in these.
They are so... I can't explain it to you.
I just love them.
And I encourage each and every one of you to get some.
I will be wearing these like an unacceptable amount.
Like as a kid I was such an outdoors kid.
I was the kid that was always in the mud with my dad.
And whatever he was doing in the garden I was always, you know, his shadow behind him just doing.
Getting stuck into honestly anything that he was doing.
I remember one day, dad always talks about...
He was just moving roof tiles from a house that he was renovating.
And I stayed out with him the whole day just moving these roof tiles.
So just anything to be outdoors.
I've always been fascinated in just like...
I don't know, like nature.
Always muddy hands, muddy everything.
I would always be like onto some scheme.
I had an ant farm.
Did I have an ant farm or a worm farm?
Either way I definitely wanted both.
I wanted to keep every single animal as a pet under the sun.
Thankfully my parents were sensible enough to let wild animals be wild animals.
And all of my books growing up were about nature and animals and that sort of thing.
And it's just honestly truly, truly in my soul.
Anyway, that was a massive side story all inspired by my dungarees.
I guess I'm just saying that they feel like me.
The minute I put them on just fresh from the box I'm like out in the garden.
I'm sat on the ground.
I'm playing with the dogs.
Doing the garden.
And just, yeah, just love them.
They feel so like me.
But anyway, what I'm actually here to tell you is I don't have any bread.
So I need to pop out.
I feel like I never have what I need.
I don't know when I'm going to get that part of adulting sorted.
I can never keep my fridge full.
There's also a bee on the window.
So I'm sorry if you've been hearing that the whole time.
So I'm going to pop out now, get a loaf of bread.
Probably grab a coffee.
And then I'll come home and we can make some breakfast.
So let's go.
Morning.
Did I just get an oatmeal flat white to go?
Okay, we're home.
We've got bread.
We've got coffee.
And I'm going to make some breakfast for both Rue and I.
And I'll actually show you what both of us have for breakfast.
Mine will be pretty boring today.
I'm just going to do avo toast and then I've got some strawberries in the fridge.
So I'll probably just throw some of them on the side.
So nothing that exciting.
But it kind of is what I eat most days.
As you probably know by now because I feel like I've been eating avo toast for years.
But I thought I would also show you what I make for Rue.
Just because I make her food myself.
She eats a full sort of like human grade.
Well all human food I guess is the only way to put it.
Today she's got chicken.
But I also give her beef.
I also give her fish.
I try and give her variety.
Basically I just try to give Rue.
And obviously I'm not like a dog nutritionist.
So do your research.
Do whatever feels right for your dog.
But for Rue I just try to feed her a lot of variety.
A lot of really high quality foods.
I've obviously researched like what dogs need.
I do give Rue raw eggs as well.
But the shells themselves if you sort of blend them into a powder.
Apparently they're really calcium rich.
So yeah.
Anyway.
Sorry if you don't have a dog.
This is probably so boring.
But yeah.
I'm going to make her breakfast now.
And then I will make mine.
Hi Angel.
Hi.
Come here.
Good girl.
Come here.
Are you okay?
Are you too hot?
Are you okay?
I'm making Rue's breakfast.
So she has veggies that I mash up a little bit.
And then shredded chicken.
And then to try and get her to eat the veggies.
I just put a little bit of low FODMAP bone broth all over it too.
This is the one that I use because it's the low FODMAP one.
So there's no onion or garlic.
So it's safe for dogs.
In fact what's in it?
Water.
Chicken bones.
Carrots.
Apple cider vinegar.
Pepper.
Salt.
And thyme.
Do you want some breakfast?
Come on then.
Come get your breakfast.
Come on.
Go see.
Rue.
Do you want a strawberry?
Do you want a strawberry Ruey?
Okay.
So normally I would now be taking Rue out for a walk.
But it's obviously just way too hot.
I've been having to walk her like honestly half past nine at night.
And still even then it's still quite warm.
So we only go for a short walk.
It's so rubbish for her.
But also I just want to do what's best for her.
And honestly in New York we were seeing people walking their dogs in 38 degrees.
And 38 degrees in a city like New York is no joke.
It was making me furious.
Actually quite a few people I did say something.
Because I'm like not very good at holding it in.
But before it gets too hot for even me to be outside.
I'm going to go make the most of just like the early morning.
Slightly cooler temperature.
And go and read my book for a bit.
Which is what I've pretty much been doing all of this week.
Because in the heat.
I don't know.
There's not much else that you can do.
And then obviously I just come inside and work all day.
So I am reading a book that I honestly cannot put down.
I remember I told you when I bought this.
I got it a few vlogs ago.
When we went to Bristol.
There's also now a film with Reese Witherspoon in.
Which I've definitely seen.
But I can't remember it at all.
And even though I'm now about a third through the book.
I still don't remember the film which is so weird.
But anyway it's a book called Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
It's basically just all about a woman.
Who is going through a lot in life.
And decides to go and do the Pacific Crest Trail.
Pacific Crest Trail.
PCT Trail in the US.
Which I'm pretty sure is like notoriously hard.
And she goes and she does it on her own.
It's just basically like chapter by chapter.
Of her walk and her whole journey.
And obviously the emotions that kind of unlocks.
And heals and all of that sort of thing.
It's just a very very me book.
Because it's obviously all about nature and being outside.
And honestly one thing I find so sad in life.
Is that everybody really but particularly women.
We have to be so conscious of our safety.
Because I would love.
I would love if the world was completely safe.
I would do all of the trails and all of the hikes.
And I would do them all on my own.
And I would love it.
I mean actually I say that with an unreasonable amount of confidence.
Because this book it just sounds impossibly hard.
And there's things you don't really think about.
It's so romanticised isn't it.
Just going on this big long hike.
But obviously on the first week she's got like blisters.
All over her whole body from carrying this massive.
I will say.
That's the one thing about sort of like long distance hikes.
That I don't love the idea of.
Is being weighed down.
Because what I love about a walk.
Is like going.
You don't have your phone.
You don't have all things.
I don't even really like.
So maybe hiking actually long distance hiking isn't for me.
Because I don't even like it.
You know when you go shopping.
And you've had your handbag on for hours.
That I get really overstimulated.
And I get really achy.
And I hate that.
So maybe it wouldn't be for me.
But I do love the idea.
But obviously.
It's just one of those things.
I don't think I could ever feel safe.
As a woman.
On my own.
Doing something like that.
Which I'm sure a lot of us feel.
I mean.
Sometimes.
I mean I feel very very safe.
Touch wood.
That feels like I shouldn't have said that out loud.
But.
Touch wood.
It does feel safe where I live.
I mean I don't take any risks.
Like you will not see me out on my own.
When it's dark or anything crazy like that.
But.
Even then I just feel like.
As a woman.
It's always in the back of your mind isn't it.
You know like.
Your mum who's taught you to.
Actually I don't even know if that's legal.
So I won't say.
But you know.
Just certain like protective.
Things.
That we instinctively know.
But anyway.
I'm absolutely loving this book.
I am flying through it.
Um.
So I would highly recommend.
If you are also.
I don't know.
If you're anything like me.
I think that you'll really really.
Really like it.
So that's what I'm going to go and do.
I feel like we didn't really do a lot.
But at the same time.
It's a Saturday.
So I feel like.
Honestly reading my book.
And just pottering around the house.
Doing.
Bits and pieces is all that.
I'm really going to do.
So.
I thought I would just show you.
What summer mornings look like for me.
And also I just think these videos.
Are such a.
Nice excuse for me to.
They're.
They really um.
Like.
Are very creatively fulfilling for me.
Because I just.
I feel like it's all about romanticising.
The small things.
And like the little parts of my morning.
That otherwise.
I guess I just.
I don't know.
Some things I never take for granted.
Like my walks that I get to do.
And seeing all the animals that live in my house.
And things.
I never take that for granted.
But otherwise.
You know.
It just helps you to romanticise your morning.
But yeah.
I hope that you enjoyed it too.
Next week will just be.
Back to usual programming.
Like a weekly vlog.
I think I'm going to film.
I don't know if I'll film all week.
Next week.
But it'll definitely just be like a more.
Regular.
Vlog.
Full vlog.
So.
Yeah.
I guess.
We'll catch up then.
Thank you so much for being here.
Thank you for watching.
And.
I can't wait to catch up next week.
Bye guys.
