Welcome back to YiJin Hardware. In today's video, we're diving into CNC machines. Have you ever seen
various types of machine tools and wondered what they're used they're used for? Hit that
like button and we'll continue uncovering more for you. Have a dinner over here. CNC machines are
one of the most prominent symbols of electromechanical integration. They significantly
improve machining efficiency and reduce operator workload. For those in the machining industry,
you've probably encountered many types of CNC machines, but did you know there are about 20
main categories and over 40 subcategories of commonly used machine tools? Part one, CNC lathes.
CNC lathes can be classified into horizontal and vertical types. Horizontal chuck lathes,
controlled by point-to-point and linear motion. Ideal for machining small disc-shaped parts using
a four-way tool post or turret. Horizontal center lathe, controlled by contour motion.
Suitable for machining disc and shaft parts with beds that can be horizontal, vertical, or slanted
and equipped with a four-way tool post or rotary tool magazine. Vertical CNC lathes, controlled
by contour motion. Used for large continuous control disc parts and equipped with a turret
tool post. Turning centers. Turning centers feature contour control and typically have
three to seven axes or more. They integrate turning, drilling, milling, and even grinding
functions. Equipped with powered tools on a rotary tool magazine, some models have multiple tool
magazines or sub-spindles for backside machining. These machines are versatile, enabling full part
processing and rapid development, making them ideal for flexible manufacturing systems, FMS.
Three, CNC milling machines. CNC milling machines include vertical and gantry types.
Vertical milling machines, controlled by point-to-point, linear, and contour, multi-axis
linkage motion. They can perform milling, shaping, drilling, and threading operations with manual
tool changes. Gantry milling machines, controlled similarly but used for large complex parts.
Tool changes are typically manual. CNC copy milling machines, available in vertical and
horizontal configurations. Controlled by contour motion, multi-axis linkage, and primarily used
for mold machining with manual tool changes. Number five, machining centers. Machining centers
come in several types, vertical, horizontal, spindle switching, spindle tiltable, and more.
They integrate drilling, boring, milling, threading, and slotting. Some can perform
five-face machining and feature various tool magazines, mechanical arm-based tool changers,
and work tables that switch between vertical and horizontal. Six, CNC drilling machines. These come
with single or dual work tables and are controlled by point-to-point and linear motion. They perform
drilling, reaming, and threading operations. One work table is used for machining, while the other
handles loading and unloading. Seven, CNC boring machines. Available in vertical and horizontal
types. Controlled by point-to-point and linear motion, they are ideal for machining box-type
components through drilling, boring, and milling with manual tool changes. Eight, CNC coordinate
boring machines. These are also divided into vertical and horizontal types, used for highly
precise hole spacing and box components. Nine, CNC grinders. Types include surface grinders,
cylindrical grinders, universal grinders, centerless grinders, and specialized grinders.
They are controlled by point-to-point, linear, and contour motion for rough precision and mirror
grinding. Ten, grinding centers. Used for automated grinding with interchangeable internal and
external grinding wheels or automatic part loading. Eleven, CNC shaping machines. Controlled
by contour motion and used for machining irregular columnar parts. Twelve, CNC combination machines.
These include CNC slides, power heads, and automatic switch box machines.
They are reliable for automated production lines and flexible for product changes.
Thirteen, CNC gear processing machines. These include gear hobbing, gear shaping, and gear
grinding machines. They perform highly precise operations like cutting, grinding, and forming
gears with accuracy levels up to four to three grade. Fourteen, CNC electrical discharge machines,
EDM. These include wire EDM and EDM forming machines. Wire EDM machines are used for mold
and template cutting and classified into high speed fast and low speed slow wire EDM types.
Fifteen, CNC laser processing machines. These machines offer drilling, cutting, engraving,
heat treatment, welding, milling, and more. With control modes like point-to-point,
linear, contour, and 3D robotic control. Sixteen, CNC press machines. Controlled by
point-to-point, linear, and contour motion. These machines are used for punching round,
square, rectangular, and custom shaped holes in sheets and thin materials.
Seventeen, CNC shearing machines. Used for cutting materials with precise linear control.
Eighteen, CNC bending machines. Controlled by point-to-point and linear motion,
these machines are ideal for bending and forming operations. Nineteen, CNC tube bending machines.
Used for multi-axis bending of pipes and tubes like oil or guide pipes.
Twenty, CNC coordinate measuring machines, CMM. Controlled by point-to-point and continuous
control, CMMs measure part dimensions and positional accuracy or generate machining
programs through scanning. If you enjoyed this content, don't forget to subscribe.
