Franz Schubert's Piano Sonata in B major, D 575, is a solo piano sonata that was published posthumously as Op. 147. While Schubert's music was appreciated by a relatively small circle of admirers in Vienna during his lifetime, interest in his work increased greatly in the decades following his death.

Its publishers dedicated the piano sonata to Sigismond Thalberg. Schubert composed the sonata in August 1817.

Thalberg (8 January 1812 – 27 April 1871) was an Austrian composer and one of the most distinguished virtuoso pianists of the 19th century.

The video was captured at the Kanderdurchstich (Kander correction, also known as the Kander breakthrough or Kander trench). This was a water correction project carried out at the beginning of the 19th century, in which the Kander was diverted into Lake Thun at Einigen. Previously, it flowed into the Aare below Lake Thun.

Originally, the Kander flowed through the Thunerallmend and emptied into the Aare between Thun and Uttigen. In this relatively flat area, the river repeatedly caused flooding and deposited large quantities of sediment. As it flowed only a few hundred metres past Lake Thun, a diversion was considered early on. The lake was intended to absorb the sediment. At the beginning of the 18th century, engineer Samuel Bodmer investigated the matter and drew up plans for a cut to be made in the Strättli hill, which separated the Kander from the lake.
