Motorcycle Trip to Magadan with Tenere 700. In this video series, I will show you my trip from Varna to Magadan. No fancy edition, just raw reality.
I love Magadan. It's a nice point of view to see all of this. I've got this Dunlop
Enduro D908F tire. I think that these are the name of the cams, Moldiak, Kinzhal.
And this is the top of Magadan.
The first truck for the day.
And this is going to be also the first bus in Kyivskyi rayon.
I just asked about directions to the port, and I hope I'll find it. But anyway, if not, I'm going to ask again.
Man, it's not bad at all. The streets are nice. Everything is clean.
Football complex. Nice.
Very nice, compared to all the towns that I have seen. I already told you that.
I did not even expect it to be so nice.
Hello. How do I get to the sea?
To the sea?
To the sea.
Straight? Thank you.
All right, straight on. And then I think it was left.
Where to the sea?
Where is the best?
Straight ahead.
Straight?
Yes.
All right, let's go after you.
To the sea?
Yes.
This guy finally decided to show me where to go. Man, this is nice now. This is nice.
Here I can have a nice view over the port and all the stuff.
You know, I'm a lucky man, but sometimes I don't even know how lucky I am.
The guy that I just met right now, and showed me this place, is the most informative guy that I ever needed.
He gave me contacts for the transportation company that can bring my motorcycle to Vladivostok,
contacts where to buy tickets to go to Kamchatka, and he said that there are direct flights, everything, everything.
But let me show you this place.
See, this is actually the harbour.
What was the name of the harbour?
Nagaev.
Yeah, this is the Nagaev harbour.
And over there is the Ohotian Sea already.
And this part here, on the left side over there where the buildings are, it is the former military port.
Now it's just a private structure.
And the red building over there, they named like a pentagon.
And over there, where the cranes are, this is the industrial port.
And over there, also the tourist port where all of these ships are coming.
And you can see part of the town, and over there it's an interesting part with a small park,
which I will go now and sit on the coffee and maybe eat something, drink tea.
And yeah, this is just a wonderful, wonderful spot.
Not really pretty here, a little dusty, but who cares.
All right, let's go to see now.
Ah, over there.
The lighthouse and the park.
Nice apartments.
Decoration is different compared to this one.
Maybe only installation.
And this is the lighthouse and the park.
Ah, for kids, OK.
I love Magadan.
Yeah, this is a nice point of view to see all of this.
And the whole town behind me.
All right, now I'm going to a local motorcycle shop
that was given to me from the guys from Magadan Motorcycle Club.
And they told me that in this motorcycle shop I'll be able to buy tubes that I needed.
Two tubes.
And also I'll find a front tire.
They have it in the shop.
And if I have this chance to buy it for 90 euros, they said,
will be just fantastic, and I'm going to change it immediately.
They also gave me address of place where I can change it, so will be great.
This is the shop.
Center Aburigen.
All right.
Super.
I've got this Dunlop Enduro D908F tire.
For only 90 euros.
It will be perfect solution for me,
because the one that I've got almost finished,
and I don't think that this will last until Nocibis, no chance.
And also it is banded somehow, so it's going like this now.
So this tire was a little bit disappointment for me.
But anyway, I have new now.
I also found a chain spray.
Perfect.
So I'm going to lube the chain now.
Well done.
Now I have a new tire.
Excellent, man.
I did not expect this.
Perfect.
Just perfect.
See how everything goes with me,
and with my famous luck to find a tire of such a price in Magadan.
About the tubes.
They don't have any tubes in Magadan.
This is not good, so I will go with whatever I have.
Now I will go to this transportation company
to ask them what will be to ship my motorcycle to Vladivostok.
They said that on the rivers it's going to be faster one week,
but we don't know yet.
The idea to send the motorcycle to Vladivostok is not going to work.
It is possible.
But the earliest time that the motorcycle will arrive in Vladivostok,
the best optimistic time or date,
is 25th of August.
And this is only if I bring the motorcycle tomorrow,
and they are able to load it on the 7th of August.
And all of these are, I will say, obstacles that might not really work well.
So in the best optimistic time or date will be 25th of August,
and from there I will have only 25 days to reach St. Petersburg,
which will be just too much.
The time is not going to be enough for me,
because if they delay with a week,
then I will have to ride like 1000 km per day.
So I will give up this idea,
and now it's only the idea to go to Kamchatka.
I definitely can fly to Kamchatka,
now I will go and check with the tickets what is the situation.
The tour company is too busy,
it might not happen with the tour company.
But still don't know, let's see what will be.
But Vladivostok definitely not an option,
so I am going to ride back from Magadan to Yakutsk.
Let's see now the tour company with tickets for Kamchatka.
More or less the same story.
The first flight that I can take to Kamchatka is on the 13th of August,
before that all flights are booked.
Today is 3rd, which means that I have to wait here 10 days.
It is not going to happen.
So Kamchatka and Vladivostok, forget about it.
I am going to wait here 2 days, maximum 3 days,
and after that I will hit the road back to Yakutsk.
All right, let's now go to find a place to eat,
and later I will walk around the town.
No more motorcycles.
I bought this small heater,
so I can use it to dry my boots.
Now I am going to meet the guys from a local motorcycle club, Polar O's.
I like the town, big boulevards, roundabouts, good surface of the road.
Nice buildings, nice colors.
I met the guys from the local motorcycle club.
Honestly, I forgot to turn on the camera.
Anyway, everything in this life is done by people.
So they gave me another address, Yamaha Motorcycle Shop in Magadan,
and I went there and I found a tube.
I've got a tube now, I've got a tube, I've got a tire, I've got everything,
just because of people. Wonderful.
Now everything is great.
I can go back to the place, to the apartment,
and later in the evening with the guys from the motorcycle club
we are going to have some beers in a local bar.
Tomorrow is a day off, tomorrow I will walk around the town and make some pictures.
And they said that the weather is going to be nice on Saturday,
so probably on Saturday I will hit the road back.
Yesterday I thought that today is going to be only walk around,
but then when I checked the map, I saw that some of the places that I would like to see
are 5 kilometers in one direction, 5 in another,
this means automatically like 10 kilometers,
and then a few more and I will end the day with 20 kilometers of walking.
It's not going to happen.
That's why I will need the bike anyway.
TV tower again.
As one of the local guys yesterday said,
whatever road you take, it will always lead you to the television tower.
That is fine, that is fine.
The first point that I am going now,
it's a memorial of all the victims of the Stalin regime or Gulag camps.
Oh, we have a progress today, it's 19 degrees.
See how straight this boulevard is.
It is at least, I don't know, 2 kilometers just straight line.
I think I got all traffic lights.
Anyway, this is the central Magadan bus station over there.
Here we go, this is the place.
This is the memorial of all victims to the Stalin's regime or Gulag camps.
It is built in 1996 by the order of President Eltin
and of course with the help of municipality of Magadan,
St. Petersburg and few more institutions.
Let's see it closely.
I think that these are the names of the camps.
Moldiak, Kinzhal, Zhenikanja,
Butugychak, Kanyon,
Apegen and few more.
Unfortunately, this building works in the next two days,
so I won't be able to visit it.
But anyway, nice to see it from outside.
The name is Maska Skrobi,
which means the mask of sadness or something like that.
I cannot really translate it to English.
It is an interesting monument.
And from here you can see the whole Magadan.
See, it is not that big, only 150,000 people.
And over there are the ports that I was yesterday.
This is like Laguna of Nagayev.
Yeah, this is the whole town.
And this is the top of Magadan,
the top place that I was able to go see the monument,
where it is, and these rocks,
and the view, and the whole town.
Yeah, this was an interesting point.
Now I will go back to the town,
and I would like to visit one museum,
which is more like a Russian history,
and mostly the history of the region.
Yeah, interesting, interesting place.
I look forward to it.
Once again, have a look at this straight boulevard,
and at the end of the boulevard is the TV tower.
It is like the best orientating point that you can ever have.
That's why I don't need the GPS,
because I already know where everything is.
When I know where is the TV tower,
I can orientate.
When I know the cathedral, it's that simple.
This should be my direction,
Boulevard Karl Marx.
This is the museum.
The price is 200 rubles, which is 2 euro.
And the museum actually explains the whole history
from the beginning.
You see this old stuff,
old clothes, shoes, tools,
weapons, everything.
And there are two floors,
and a lot of interesting information,
and artifacts, and so on, and so on.
Here in this hall is the whole history
of building the road, Kalama Road,
with details, and pictures, and information.
So basically, each one of these halls
represent different parts of the history.
This one is for animals,
what kind of animals are living in this area.
And you can see it in real size,
well-preparated.
And yeah, it's interesting, very interesting.
This now is about the history of the camps,
the history of building the roads,
and all artifacts, and tools, and everything
that they used to build the roads.
A lot of interesting things to see here.
The organization of the camps,
how the fences were made,
all barbed wire, and everything.
It was an interesting experience,
and it cost nothing, 2 euros.
I spent like one and a half hours inside.
But let's see what else I can see and do today.
So, a little change in the plan, in a good way.
I was planning actually to change the oil in Yakutsk,
when I get there.
There will be around 10,000 km already.
But I just spoke with the guys from Yakutsk now,
and they said that they won't be able to find
oil and filters there.
And the next stop is going to be Chita,
which is already like 12,000 km.
So I decided to check,
can I find filters and oils here.
And I found filter in one of the shops,
and oil in another.
Yeah, the oil was Motul, not Motorex.
But anyway, I needed to change it.
They even let me to change the oil in their garage.
I asked the guy, can I film it?
And he said, well, man, you're asking too much.
Change your oil, but please no filming.
So I did not film anything.
But no, it was perfect.
I found filter, I found oil.
The necessary change is done.
So now I'm ready for the next 10,000 km.
It was a little bit pricey,
but when I saw the roads,
that everything comes from this road,
now I don't complain that much from the prices.
It cost me like 90 euros,
3 liters of oil and the filter.
Anyway, I'm so pleased that this procedure is done.
Let's now find something to eat and relax a bit.
This one is nice.
Soup named Lagman.
Delicious.
And with bread and tea later.
Excellent for lunch.
So far, I have done everything
what is possible to be done in Magadan.
I saw everything,
and I miss only one thing.
The sea.
What I'm gonna do now,
I will go there and try to put my feet
into the water.
It is low tide,
and it might be a little bit difficult,
but I'm sure that I will find
the right spot to do it.
In the best situation,
I'm gonna swim a little bit over there.
If not, we'll see.
The sea is cold,
and here it's not very clean,
because there is one industrial port over there,
and one more there.
And now it's low tide,
and I can see a lot of metal parts,
and iron, and rubbish, and garbage,
and I'm not gonna risk here
to do something, but at least, as I said,
I can put my feet
into the Ahotian Sea.
Look at this small army
moving around.
Go, go, go.
And I can say that
I've been here,
and now my mission in Magadan
is officially completed.
I can go back, relax,
prepare everything,
and tomorrow morning,
I will hit the way back.
How long it's gonna take,
where exactly I'm gonna go, I don't know yet,
but I'm sure it will be interesting.
Good morning!
Another day, another adventure
in Magadan.
It is 6 o'clock in the morning,
and I'm ready to go.
So the plan is to go from Magadan
all the way north
to Palatka,
and from Palatka turn left
and use this road, which is named
Tinkinskaya Trase,
around 600 km,
and make connection with the main road
here, 30 km
before Susuman.
After I reach this point, I'm gonna turn
right and
spend the night in Susuman again,
because in Susuman is the only place
where you can spend the night and have petrol.
And after I refuel on the next day,
I'm gonna ride from Susuman
to Ust-Nera.
So this will be today's ride.
6.30 am.
No people on the road.
Excellent!
Bye-bye Magadan!
One more mission completed.
Pavel is coming behind me.
We're gonna ride together
to Yakutsk. From Yakutsk I will
hit south, he will hit west.
Nice guy. Nice to talk with him
in the last few days.
The road to Palatka
is perfect asphalt, 80 km,
with fantastic views.
And now it's
16 degrees. Very good.
Have a look at these colors.
Nice and fresh.
A little bit further was
the turn to
Ust-Omchak,
left,
Denkin highway.
Ust-Omchak, left.
Customs here,
because they've got
some kind of internal regulations
about the
taxes and stuff like that.
People who are from
Magadan, they've got
privileged prices and if they have to cross
this region,
they have to pay
more taxes, or something
like that. I cannot really explain you now.
Alright, so
this is the road
that we are
going to take, Denkinskaya trase.
Of course, this beautiful
asphalt road will finish after
a few kilometers, and then we are going to
see it again after 2000 km.
Now we are
back in the game.
Very windy.
But at least it's dry
and sunny.
And the beginning is very promising.
Fantastic views.
All of these mountains.
And no traffic at all.
So far.
The first truck for the day.
And this is going to be also
the first bus.
Denkinskaya region.
Region Tinkisky.
Now when I go
downhill.
And all of these mountains are just
in front of me.
One after another, one after another.
A mountain village.
Ah, interesting.
Open coffee.
Let me ask
Pavel if he wants
to stop for tea.
Local atmosphere.
Not bad at all.
I'm going to have a pancake with jam.
And this is syrnik. I don't know what it is.
Something with cheese.
This stop was good.
To warm a bit.
To drink tea.
To relax a bit.
Big, big river.
Emergency exit
for the trucks.
Too tight if you ask me, but anyway
they might make it.
And now from here
I can see the whole valley.
Beautiful angle.
Beautiful.
All right.
This is Us-Umchuk.
270 km.
It took us
exactly 5 hours to come here.
This means that we have
like 350-360 km
to the end
point, Susuman.
If everything is going
all right,
we'll be able
to be there
before it gets
dark, like 6-7 o'clock.
So this is good.
Here we'll refill the tanks.
And I guess that we're going to eat something.
And later
we'll be just right, right, right.
OK.
