Hello everyone, welcome to my channel. This is building the legacy brick by brick. My name is Gerald Hattie Again on this channel, we talk about the three aspects of wealth building in no particular order, which is real estate Starting your own business and of course investing in the stock market I want to thank you all for subscribing and following this channel, you know today I noticed that we have Hit and gone past 2,000 subscribers and I can't help but be thankful You know be grateful. I'm excited I'm elated. I mean I have all the words to describe how grateful and excited I am about this journey That we're on here together so it's only fitting that I think of a Moment in my life that brings all of these moments full circle. So I'll tell you a story I'll say I've been a financial advisor now eight years I'll say that might be eight years. Yeah, approximately eight years, but interestingly I think this was around my fourth year mark with Wallace Fargo at the time Once a year Wallace Fargo had something to call a diversity inclusion event and this was really for Black financial advisors that were doing extremely well in the business having them to figure out other avenues within the business to continue to exponentially grow their business and Wallace Fargo wanted to create different programs that help them with training help them with information help them with technology In order to help grow those black advisors business now for young black advisors like myself Who were high performers at the time would also get to be invited to this event, which is a summit Let's call it diversity and inclusion summit for black advisors. So of course I was invited to this summit, which is great I met a lot of great people and I established a mentor, but I think going to the summit Really I think more than anything I am driven by my humanitarian side I'm the guy who likes to save the situation who likes to come in and do what's necessary You know, I like to stand up to what's right. I guess it's just my personality Anyhow, let me not get off track As I explained at this summit for my first experience and knowing my situation at the time As a young advisor within Wallace Fargo and they were trying to create opportunities to help advisors You know be able to succeed with especially black advisors be able to succeed within this business Because again for those of you who do not know financial advisors in America is 1% that are black Very very very small percentage for history for generations. This has been a white industry So anyway, when I went to the summit and I had a mentor While speaking my mentor was high up in the organization and he was a part of the summit or the organizer of the summit so I kind of told him I voiced to him or during one of our Conversations there and I told him that I was looking to to be able to speak at the summit But I felt like it was appropriate that I had become the Uber driver turned financial advisor. Wallace Fargo had published my story I was well known within the organization And so I wanted the opportunity to speak at the summit and really talk about how They can also empower diversity inclusion can really impact black advisors. What exactly what it focuses that they should want to Rearrange things to rearrange their focus on in order to really see Their objective being accomplished as far as diversity and inclusion and having black advisors succeed within this industry so when I spoke when I told my Mentor this he laughed and told me that I had to you know, I needed to be speaking in front of people My peers maybe start up three or four guys He just laughed at all. He thought I was delusional Well needless to say That that summit that was held once a year had maybe 150 to 300 people Let's just give it 500 that 500 people that visited that summit and when my Mentor told me that I couldn't be at the summit now fast-forward five years later or Four years later fast-forward four years later Today I have 2,000 plus growing people subscribe to my channel Listening to me and giving me the opportunity to speak to them And I don't know how How that happened if I'm deserving of it if I'm not deserving of it none of that matters All I know is I am humbled. I am thankful. I am excited about growing with you I am excited about figuring out the things that are difficult in life and building a legacy together brick by brick So continue to subscribe.
