Amidst Bangalore's vibrant rhythm, in a fast-paced city like Bangalore,
the House of the Hanging Gardens offers a quiet retreat.
Fades away the noise within its walls, within its gardens.
From what I know, he's been a car enthusiast and he keeps changing his collections.
Hi, this is Architect Shreyas Patil from Shreyas Patil Architects.
Join me for an exclusive tour of the House of the Hanging Gardens located at Bangalore.

So, while the clients approached me to build a house for them, they are a family of four.
They originally lived in the same area.
And what they missed out on their previous house is that it didn't have a garden access, garden friendly,
a house that is naturally lit and ventilated throughout the day.
Somewhere they really wished to have a house that's completely Vastu compliant.
Getting in all these elements in a tight site of 40 by 60.
So, the house is cut off from light on the west, south and the north.
The only side that's opening is the east which is great because it gets in all the morning natural light into the house.
And we've put all the public and the day spaces of a residence on the eastern edge of the plot.
The stilt floor is accessed through the eastern side at two parts.
One is the car park.
We've tried to do a rat proof car park because the client has an obsession with his fleet of fancy cars.
A series of utility based functions such as the servant quarters, the electrical room is all tucked in in the northwest corner.
As you enter the main door through a straight flight staircase on the northern edge of the property.
So, we are at the formal living room. This is a part of the eastern edge of the ground floor.
You are welcomed by a triple height court which has a skylight above it.
Like a sculptural element to the living space.
The living room kind of opens to this garden with a small deck and a sit out, a kind of a coffee area.
So, the puja room as per basic principles of Vastu, we kind of positioned it on the northeast corner.
And the back kitchen along with its front kitchen is located on the northwest corner.
The real public space which is the living room is on the eastern side.
This concept runs throughout the house because even on the first floor, the family room is on the eastern edge.
A set of three windows are divided into two halves.
The lower part is a panelled teakwood shutter that opens with a top hung mechanism.
Which also gives a sense of privacy because of the angle and the depth and also brings in a lot of cross ventilation into the space.
Across this room is the older daughter's bedroom.
And right above through this court as you view on top you get a glimpse of the two other bedrooms.
Regarding the vertical arrangement of the house, the house is vertically connected through a central shaft of staircase.
But what I hear from them is that they find the house very convenient in terms of the layout,
in terms of its privacy, in terms of how the public and the private are segregated.
An assembly of cubes in organized cantilevers and recesses makes up the elevation of the residence.
This give and take of exposed concrete, warm teak accents and lush foliage on the facade
kind of creates a captivating dialogue between the built environment and the nature.
