Once upon a time, in a sunny corner of a green farm,
lived a little chick named Mia and her loving Mama Hen.
Every day, they wandered around the farm together,
pecking at grains and searching for tasty bugs.
As they walked, Mama Hen always reminded Mia,
Mia listened carefully.
She loved her Mama very much and always tried to be a good little chick.
One bright morning, as Mia and her Mama searched near the tall cornfield,
something caught Mia's eye.
A beautiful butterfly with shimmering blue wings.
It fluttered just past the fence, twirling and dancing in the air.
Ooh, Mia chirped, so pretty.
Without thinking, she followed the butterfly past the fence, out of the farm.
The butterfly flew away.
Mia blinked and looked around.
Oh, no, she whispered.
This isn't the farm anymore.
Back in the cornfield, Mama Hen turned around.
Mia, she clucked, Mia, where are you?
But Mia was too far to hear.
Mia felt scared, but she took a deep breath.
I must go back.
I remember the big tree, the white fence, the scarecrow.
She started to walk back carefully.
Just then, from behind a bush, stepped a sly-looking fox.
Well, hello there, little chick, he said with a toothy grin.
You look lost.
Let me take you to your Mama.
Mia remembered what Mama Hen always said.
Never trust strangers.
No, thank you, Mia said bravely, stepping away.
The fox's eyes narrowed.
Oh, come now, I only want to help, he said, circling closer.
You're just a little chick.
You don't want to get hurt, do you?
Mia's heart beat fast.
She could see the white fence of the farm now, almost home.
Then, the fox growled low, his sharp teeth showing.
If you won't come with me, I'll just have to eat you before you get away.
Mia's eyes went wide.
She screamed, help, and ran as fast as her little legs could go.
All the animals on the farm, cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens heard Mia's cry.
They came running, mooing, oinking, clucking, and bawing loudly.
The fox stopped in his tracks.
He couldn't fight the whole farm.
With a huff, he turned and ran far, far away.
Mia rushed into her mama's wings, shaking but safe.
Mama hen hugged her tight.
Oh, Mia, you were so brave, and you remembered what I taught you.
Mia smiled and whispered, I didn't trust the stranger, Mama, just like you said.
And that night, under the stars, Mia snuggled close to her mama, warm and safe in their cozy little nest.
Good night!
