In “Farewell to Lórien – Part 2” from the Extended Edition of The Fellowship of the Ring, the Fellowship prepares to leave the Elven realm of Lothlórien. This expanded scene provides a deeper emotional farewell between the Elves and the members of the Fellowship.

Galadriel, the Lady of Lórien, gives each member of the Fellowship a special Elven gift, each deeply symbolic and suited to the receiver:
Frodo receives the Phial of Galadriel, containing the light of Eärendil’s star, meant to guide him in darkness.

Sam is gifted an Elven rope, which proves useful later on his journey.

Gimli, the Dwarf, asks for nothing but a strand of Galadriel’s hair—and is instead given three, a rare and moving gesture of honor.
Legolas receives a long Elven bow and arrows.

Merry and Pippin are given silver belts (or daggers, depending on the adaptation).

Aragorn is reminded of his heritage as he receives a jeweled sheath and a green Elven brooch.
