The CCP Poses a Threat to Humanity — Remarks by Wendy Wright, President of Christian Freedom International, at the D.C. Rally
On July 17, 2025, marking the 26th anniversary of the persecution of Falun Gong, 1,500 Falun Gong practitioners and supporters from across the eastern United States gathered on the National Mall near Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., calling to “Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong.” More than a dozen U.S. officials, human rights leaders, and advocates delivered speeches in support of Falun Gong.
Ahead of the rally, officials from the U.S. State Department and over ten bipartisan members of Congress issued statements condemning the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution and demanding its immediate end.
Wendy Wright, President of Christian Freedom International, said at the rally:
“It is truly an honor to be here. Yet I feel regret that we must gather here once again, because the numbers of victims continue to grow. Over 26 years of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, we know of around 5,200 deaths due to persecution, and countless others have even had their organs forcibly harvested.”
She continued:
“The CCP views this peaceful faith as a threat. And it’s not only Falun Gong practitioners — we see other groups, including Christians, also treated as threats by the CCP. The persecution does not stop at China’s borders; the CCP has extended its repression of faith groups abroad and continues to exert significant influence even here in the United States.”
“In reality, it is the CCP that poses a threat to humanity, not Falun Gong practitioners.”
“Today, we see millions of people standing with you. More and more are supporting you because you have shown them how to hold firmly to your faith in the face of persecution, and how to confront the truth of the CCP’s atrocities against Falun Gong.”
Wright concluded her remarks by thanking Falun Gong practitioners:
“Thank you for your spirit of never giving up.”
