SpaceX Starship 37 Ready on OLM for Static Fire in Hours! Here’s Their Big Move...
“Coming in fast,” said Elon Musk, as Ship 37 stands ready for a key test, with results expected within hours. Meanwhile, preparations continue for a confirmed Starship flight set for next month.
In Florida, Crew-11’s pre-launch test was abruptly aborted due to technical issues. At the same time, astronomers are raising fresh concerns over Starlink’s growing orbital footprint and its impact on research.
All this and more in today’s episode of Great SpaceX.

In an earlier update I shared the schedule indicating that S38 and S37 would move for upcoming tests. I anticipated that S37 would be relocated in the early hours of July 28. In fact, its move was delayed by about half a day and eventually took place in the afternoon of the same day.
Thanks to this clearer timeline, we can now describe the S37 movement in detail. First, a transport stand arrived at Mega Bay in the morning, and interestingly it looked similar to the prior platform that had been upgraded into a test stand. S37 was then lifted onto the stand. Once everything was prepared, the anticipated movement finally began. At Pad A, the Ship QD Arm on the tower was retracted, and the Chopstick crane was lowered. As the vehicle approached the pad, S37 was guided into the middle of the Chopstick. By mid-afternoon on July 28, the Chopstick had elevated the ship onto the test stand installed on the OLM.

SpaceX celebrated this move with high-quality images in a tweet captioned: “Starship moved to the launch site at Starbase for preflight testing”. The tweet also noted a symbolic milestone: the event occurred exactly forty days after the S36 explosion. That timing underlines the impressive speed at which SpaceX has managed to bring Starship back into testing readiness.
During this movement, several new details became apparent about S37. Notably, the aft section features a newly installed system resembling a crab claw—four small arms joined together, each fitted with flanges designed to connect directly to flexible harnesses. That assembly seems designed to interface with the new Ship QD system on the test stand, supporting tasks like fuel transfer. This unique configuration highlights that the updated test infrastructure includes a redesigned interface, requiring a new connection setup on the vehicle itself.
