G'day, I'm Paul.
This is the drag race you've all been asking about.
Mahindra pickup versus Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series four-cylinder.
We want to figure out which is quickest in a straight line.
I'm going to do some roll racing as well.
And then I'm going to wheel out the V8 Land Cruiser to see how that fares too.
Now, by the way, we actually just recently did a big load haul in comparison with the
70 and the Mahindra as well.
You can click down in the description to check that out.
It's actually quite fascinating to see how they both went when Mahindra was at its GVM.
So check that out in the description below.
Now, if you do want to skip ahead to other parts of this drag race, you can use the time
codes on the screen.
Or if you're on YouTube, you can scroll down and use the chapters below.

Let's get started.
I want to figure out if this is quicker than the 79.
But I think the 79 is going to be much quicker than this.
It's like 200 Newton meters of torque difference or thereabouts.
So we'll see how we go anyway.
It's worth a crack.
But then I've got a special surprise.
So I'll show you that in just a second, but I'm going to turn traction off.
James, you all set over there?
Yes, sir.
Now, just as a reminder, the numbers are up on the screen in terms of power and torque
figures.
We've weighed them up so they weigh the exact same.
We will see how we go.
James is going to run his in power mode and with traction control off as well.
All right, Sean, count us in.
I want you on go in three, two, one, go.
That is significantly quicker.
There's probably not much I can do to help that.
Yeah, look, it is a shame they don't put the Scorpio's diesel engine in this instead of
this one because it would be an absolute lightning bolt in comparison, I reckon.
But anyway, that'll be for the next generation global pickup.
So now before I show you my little surprise, I thought we'd do just a rolling race as well
just to see how it goes.
So I'm going to go third gear from 50 k's an hour.
Here we go.
All right, James, let's get it up to 50.
There it is there.
So three, two, one, go.
Oh, hello.
Go, go, go.
A little bit of mid-gear for me.
I shifted up to fourth then, but anyway, that actually wasn't too bad.
Did yours hold third gear then?
Yeah, it held third gear all the way to the red line.
Interesting.
Okay, mine shifted up to fourth.
You did end up winning, but mid-gear acceleration in this isn't actually too bad.
Okay, now it's time for my little surprise.
Let's go back to the start line and I'll explain.
Okay, here is my surprise.
It is a 76 series.
So I wanted to put a V8 up against the pickup just to see how that would go.
The 76 is the only thing we can get our hands on.
So this is heavier curb weight than the pickup.
What we've done is we've added extra weight to the pickup so these two are matched in
terms of curb weight.
So it'll be interesting to see how this goes because, you know, big old V8 should be quicker
than the four-cylinder with 300 and something newton meters.
So let's see what happens.
I'm going to turn traction control off.
James, are you ready?
Ready when you are, bud.
Okay, Sean, count us in.
On go in three, two, one, go.
Alright, come on.
Go.
Oh my god, this is so close.
Come on.
That was so close.
I do have a feeling he jumped the start though.
I feel he jumped the start.
I think you were just slow off the line there.
Go.
Oh, there was a fraction in that.
One more time.
Why?
You left slightly early.
Oh, did I?
Ever so slightly.
Oh.
Okay.
And you won ever so slightly.
Oh, so you reckon it would be, yeah.
You did slow down a lot with each shift.
I could tell when you shifted because then you jumped back.
Alright, line him up.
Okay, let me do that again.
James just jumped that and I reckon just with a slightly cleaner start by me, we could have
him, but then I do have one more little trick up my sleeve.
So I'll run you through that shortly.
Line up.
Alright, here we go.
Traction off.
Alright, James, you ready?
Yes, sir.
Alright, Sean, count us in.
This is fine, James.
In three, two, one, go.
I think I jumped the start, man.
Come on.
Oh, that was so close.
That was so close.
Oh, my God.
He was gaining on me at the end there.
I don't know what was going on.
It's like he's got a second life.
Alright, Sean, I need a verdict there.
I think James won, but I'm not sure.
He can't tell.
I genuinely cannot tell.
Alright, I'm going to go check with Igor to see whether he started okay.
How was that start?
He was slow by about this much, but if he's still won, he won.
I don't know.
Sean says he can't tell.
I do have one more trick up my sleeve, so we'll go one more run.
Now, we have actually done a drag race with the 79 and also the Hilux.
Click up there to watch that.
But what I learnt during that drag race is if you start off in second,
you can actually get a slightly better run over the finish line,
given he is just beating me.
I'm going to try starting off in second gear and we'll see how we go.
Alright, Sean, count us in.
On go in 3, 2, 1, go.
Oh, God.
That's the worst part about a second start.
Maybe I don't have him here.
I just need a little bit more room.
Come on.
Oh, that is so annoying.
It is so close.
Alright, so regardless of whether you start in first or second,
with this much space, the pickup is quicker than a V8 Land Cruiser 76 Series.
So, there you go.
Another pointless but definitely fun drag race.
I could not believe the Mahindra pipped the V8 Land Cruiser.
I mean, the V8 Land Cruiser, it is like the holy grail of dual cab utes.
It got comprehensively beaten by the four-cylinder, though.
And I've said this time and time again when we did our last video
where we did the towing comparison between the four-cylinder 70 Series and the V8
and then also the load hauling comparison.
It just shows you the four-cylinder Land Cruiser really is the absolute bee's knees
when it comes to this type of agricultural dual cab pickup.
So, impressive stuff.
Now, up on the screen there, you're going to see our results.
You're going to see exactly how the numbers went down.
It was actually pretty close between the four-cylinder Mahindra
and the V8 Land Cruiser, but daylight there to the four-cylinder 70 Series.
And you can see it absolutely packs a punch.
Now, before we wrap up, if you didn't see our other video,
this is how the Mahindra and the four-cylinder Land Cruiser went with
load in the tray across the quarter mile.
I'm going to be quiet just so you can hear the engines doing their thing.
So, there you go.
Again, just comprehensively quicker in the 70 Series when there is load in the tray as well.
Now, what else do you want us to drag race?
I'm always asking you guys for ideas.
You guys pitched this idea to me last time,
so I'm keen to hear what else you want us to drag race.
Let me know in the comments section below.
