The Waterloo Chamber, commissioned by George IV in the 1820s, features portraits by Thomas Lawrence of key figures from the Napoleonic Wars. The room, named after the Battle of Waterloo, showcases Lawrence's extensive work, which he began in 1814 and continued until his death in 1830. His notable portraits include the Duke of Wellington depicted as a national hero and Pope Pius VII symbolising peace after imprisonment.
Today the Waterloo Chamber is used for ceremonial events such as, investitures, state banquets, concerts and theatrical performances, as well as the Garter Lunch, held every year in June.
